I like win10 fine in general. In addition to searching for audio devs, I hope they are on a global manhunt for a genius smart enough to program win10 to allow adjustable system font and size. My eyes are getting a little weak but everything would work ok if I could pick something other than seqoe ui and maybe bump the size one or two points bigger. Tall order but surely somewhere on earth there is a genius smart enough to program this ambitious feature. :)

Even stranger, the exact adjustment capabilities are different on my different win10 machines. They have different settings dialogs with different options though all are up to date. But none have the simple method of setting global default font and size. The only available options are to vastly magnify the screen, making everything lots too big with not enough screen real-estate, where a simpe global font adjustment would work great. That must be a very difficult programming task or surely some weak-eyed old MS employee would have added-back-in that old feature from previous versions by now.

I prefer this method over Apple, they would not bother with hiring via KVR, they just bought up Camel Audio instead :P
You forgot Emagic :x

If I had any say in Microsoft, I would buy up Bitwig, discontinue it on the other platforms, and include it as a part of Windows.

It would kick OSX Garage Band in the nads :D

If Apple invented the guitar, they would have redacted the strings almost immediately, and told people they didn't really want them anyway. :P

Yes! AS in a previous post someone mentions songsmith,

It works fine if you don't use it much. Especially don't use the start menu configuration feature (especially not before installing any updates), and don't expect the "fast (quick?) access" explorer shortcut (I don't recall its exact name on the English version) to be what its name implies. Similarly there is no longer any "hibernate" command on the shutdown menu (there is a related adjustment in the power settings that does not seem to work since windows 8, apparently nobody tests control panel applets anymore), and many other annoying quirks I have forgotten because I no longer use it. This is a very different mindset from the days in which computer software (especially operating systems) were expected to work exactly the way they were specified. One of the most annoying new features is that if you leave windows 10 open during the night it will automatically shutdown to install updates, and you can't disable that. Apparently they justify this feature based on the fact that it's not supposed to be a "server" edition. Forcing users to use microsoft email addresses instead of traditional accounts isn't very polite either. Recently I had to install windows 8 using that way only to delete that account and create a normal one later. As I said things are a bit strange since the "tablet mode multiple personality disorder" appeared and windows 8 is less annoying only because it's old and does not get frequent new features, only security updates and bugfixes.

Not if you wanted to run Cubase 8. MS didn't impose it but Steinberg certainly did.

Thanks Stratum. Everybody probably has his own personal list. Win10 in general seems fast and stable to me.

Maybe could think up other items, but my list only has two major items. In addition to inability to specify global system font and size, a long-term annoyance is file window view preferences. Maybe this sometimes even affected XP, but attacked with a vengeance with Vista then repeatedly "got better then got worse again" ever since even with Win10.

Without exception I want ALL file windows to display details, Name, Date, Type, Size. If a directory contains images or movies or audio files or whatever, I still want it to ALWAYS and ONLY display DETAILS VIEW with NAME, DATE, TYPE and SIZE. Sometimes they almost get it right then an update messes it up again. If there was one low-level system dialog to specify this always and forever and windows would never forget, I'd be much happier.

I have seen that happening that way in some machines and not in others. I can't tell what's wrong really, but so far downgrading to window 8 fixed my problems, and if I want to hibernate a machine, I have learnt a new way: type shutdown -h in the shell, and it's OK that some corner cases of the control panel settings don't work.

About the font size you mention and other annoyances: The problem appears to be that fixing such things is the only sensible thing remaining to be done (other than writing drivers for newer advanced hardware), and that won't sell a newer version of windows, and not surprisingly they didn't ask any money for windows 10 upgrade.

Windows 10 is quite fine, the big problem is all the intrusive updates.

Lol I can't believe you are discussing about Windows in a thread created by Microsoft for hiring looool

If you think of it that's not entirely off topic. Have a look at the job ad and read the text, they don't have a specific project in mind, they are hiring without actually knowing what to do with these people, they'll ask that to them. They need new project ideas, as making money from their existing products is getting to be difficult. There are bugs to be fixed but just fixing bugs doesn't create products that sell. My guess is that this ad is related to latest 'win10 creators update' - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows ... g-features - probably for the next step in that direction.

An idea for a new project. I'd like to have that too

I love the idea that MS will hire people with no fixed agenda or project to let tallented musicians and designers set the direction rather than MS 'marketing' people trying to guess what musicians want (or just trying to copy existing products).
