I know there are some plugins createt for inspirational drum production.
Something like Egoist that can create randkm dru and bass patterns.

Are there more plugins that can do something like this?

Good question.

+ 1 for the beat knitter, for ambient kind of stuff it is absolutely great, you just hit the generate buttons while listening till it just fits your needs no matter if its "correct" in any way or what "style" or whatever, just try and listen till rhythm fits your needs, then drag and drop the midi and play with whatever drum vst you like.

Hi tonedef71,

you just remembered me that I have the "intro" version of it too

but though very impressed from general idea I never really get it to work (apart from installation, update and daw integration problems) the way I wanted to use it (in the sense of the question of this post as quick random sketch pattern generator).

Seems like you were more sucessful with this, any hints ?

I love it, and also LiquidMusic. I would suggest watching a few of their many demo videos on YouTube to get some ideas of how to work with it.

Hi deastman,

when I tried it I get it to work (after all that mentioned problems), its just that I cant find a fitting workflow for me.

With beat knitter I have a songsketch in my daw, load kontakt, load beat knitter as library (just as one example), let my song play, hit "generate" till my fingers bleed or I found THE rhythm that fits perfectly to my song, drag and drop it to a track, load a drum/percussion vst/kontakt lib to play it, thats it.

I must admit I usually use to do ambient/chill/folk/rock like stuff and thats maybe not the kind of song liquid rhythm was designed for.

But maybe I really missed something, that was why I asked, not the problem to generally getting it to work (thought that is definitely not easy with liquid rhythm).

I understand. I meant that if you watch some of their videos, you might get a sense of the workflow they envision for using the tool.

If you want something that sounds more like a real drummer, Jamstix is great.

I agree. The videos for Liquid Rhythm show you how to create unique percussion parts, with syncopation and polyrhythm.

Jamstix is great for modeling the drum playing of real drummers. Again, videos for the product introduce its unique features such as spicing up existing midi drum loops that you may own.

These days for quick dynamic drum beats, I have been using Realidrums. I think Air Music Strike 2 may have similar capabilities, although I have yet to try it.

Some day Amplesound may come out with a drum library that contains their own Drum Beat Maker tool. :)

Have you tried to adapt the rhythmic generator tools of Rapid Composer to create drum parts?

Hi tonedef71,
