Quite possibly..tenshin111 wrote:Maybe you're too early and the "join beta" doesn't work yetkmonkey wrote:Weird. There is "Join beta" button but when i click on it i get:
Sorry, in order to join the beta testing you need to own and register a copy of Reason 9 or Reason Essentials 9.
But i do have Reason 9 full sitting in my account, i bought several RE's weeks ago. Any clue?

OK, I'm stumped here...all I recall in recent years was the bleating about the age of the synths included in Reason and the lack of progress in this area. So, now they include a whole lot of new content and the bleating starts about not changing the program...
This is somewhat of moot point now that Reason offers VST support. You can use (almost) any synth or other device available an external plugin. What the app really needs IMHO has been pretty much summed up in the few post at the beginning: better sequencer, better GUI, fixing long-standing bugs, etc.

Hell, i get this for sure. Personally, I like sequencing in Reason, have done since 2.5 and I agree the GUI is awful to use these days, but considering how Props ARE in fact responding to user requests, they at least deserve props for that. Maybe next point update or even full version, we will see your requests come through.
One thing that has always seemed more than reasonable is that you can always sit out any updat until you find one that meets your worth and iy will still cost the standard $129....not really a bad model for users.

Instead of Reason 10, they should call it Reason XT (eXtended Technology)

I'm mostly confused about introducing new instruments, when Reason now supports 2 additional formats for "MORE" (practically everything).
Let's go back to Reason 6, merging with Record. Add things like REX slicing and group channels and quick bounce and imagine all Rack Extensions by Propellerhead bundled with along the way, you still would have a pretty solid program, "true" to the Propellerhead "agenda". Then you also could indeed say "hurray, a granular thingie finallly!". But they did open up to 3rd parties with Rack Extensions and now VSTs, so going back to self-contained additions is a bit weird, no?
I also felt Rack Extensions are here so PH themselves just could release a cool new synth every now and then, but maybe these are actually not based on RE technology and again "core" part of the sofware. Whatever difference that actually makes.

The thing is... everyone expects something else to be added or fixed, and is convinced that that is the stuff everyone is waiting for a looong time now. And, if you gather all those things people want to be added or fixed, you'd get a list with features and fixes which would take 5 years to complete.tenshin111 wrote:jacqueslacouth wrote:

Apart from that, i still think it was a fatal mistake to implement VST support. People expect Reason to be similar to Cubase now. Something the original creators never wanted. Now even more people will ask for this and that and those features which have been implemented in VST host XY since years. TBH, i wouldn't know what to do in Propellerheads place either though. The whole concept seems to be deprecated and obsolete. Maybe they should have created something entirely new at the right time. Or do a complete overhaul of the program, with new versions of every device, and a completely new GUI. Stuff like that. Maybe it would be finished in about 5 years time.

Although, let me just add, it is indeed a rare day that I actually open Reason anymore. I am pretty well settled with Ableton (which is strange since I recently sold it then almost immediately bought it again)

Weird then. It still says that i am not having Reason 9 while i do have it. I use online authorization though. I don't have usb dongle and i don't like idea of having my computer registered (in case it dies i want to avoid added complication) so i use online authorization every time i run Reason and it works splendid.pekbro wrote:I was able to join the beta without any problem... for download yet though.
-Cheers
Maybe that's why i can't join beta? Because i don't have dongle? But then... Reason 9 full itself is there in my account that is 100% sure.

I mean they don't fix workflow issues, GUI is still crap (all old rack devices are really too tiny nowadays), and try to cover that with more fluff than ever (including stuff some people likely already bought already - making the update even less worth it to them). Well done, really.Numanoid wrote:You mean they add to much to the update?:EvilDragon wrote:Props totally losing the plot.

Not after REs and VST support! That's doing it wrong, that's doing it backwards. 2005-2008 was when Reason should've gotten new instruments - when all it had was just a few - but it didn't! Ppl had to wait, then go through the RE abomination, now waiting for VST to be properly implemented but they don't get that, they get... new Reason instruments. WTF?!Numanoid wrote:You mean they add to much to the update?:EvilDragon wrote:Props totally losing the plot.

Reason these days:

Only that it delivers very few eggs, very small amount of wool, and not much meat... frankly, maybe time to start all over again, with such a apparent lack of concept anymore.
