I know, its not the first time I ask this, but haven't got the final answer, yet:

One of the all time tv-theme, composed by Mike Post in 1981.
(Mike Post wrote several other top tv-themes as well., incl. L.A.Law)

But what is the brass-like, really tasty synth, which plays the Hill Street solo-theme?
I couldn't find, those who know synths may know. Oberheim? Minimoog?

Arrangement: Piano (El.piano), drums, bass, synth (solo), synth (pad), El. guitar, strings.

Rockford-theme is a typical Minimoog sound. But what makes you say the Hill Street Blues is a Minimoog, too? Its not in the thread, or is it...

Oops. I misread that. I saw Mike Post mentioned as well as Hill Street Blues and jumped to conclusions ...

I also love that theme, there is something melancholic to it, although NYC was a mess back then.

It was probably re-recorded for each year of the show's run (I think it had to be at that time, THE UNION RULES); I've heard two so far and it's the same synth. I think it's the big Moog Modular. I may well be wrong.
