HALion Sonic 3 MIDI learn -Solved

I am using the default that loads up with HALion Sonic 3 called Hexagon. It uses the Anima synth + two others in three layers.

Anyway, you'd think if you right-clicked on a knob in Anima and clicked "Learn CC" and then moved a knob, that it would work. But then I noticed it is pointing at the 16th instrument slot on the left side. So I loaded a instrument in that 16th slot, and tried it...now it works for that piano instrument that's there.

Why would it start out pointing to the 16th one instead of the 1st? If I play notes, it triggers the Hexagon program in that first slot...so you'd think it would use "Learn CC" for that same slot as well. (?)

When I looked at the MIDI page, each of the slots for the programs are in order, 1 through 16. I can play notes on that MIDI channel 1, but then twisting a knob for Learn CC points to the empty (until I loaded one into it) 16th program...so I am confused. I reset the Controller settings ("Reset to Factory" on Sonic 3's Settings page) but it does the same thing.

EDIT - I tried with my older Oxygen 25 keyboard and it worked ok. It seems my Nektar LX49 keyboard has some issues I will have to look into. It's strange though as it works fine with other plugins, and this is the first real issue I've had with it.
