Reason 10 Upgrade from a Reason 8 Upgrade?

Would it have been possible to upgrade to Reason 10 from a Reason 8 Upgrade which was applied on 02.09.2017?

Since on that day the upgrade from the former Reason 8 would automatically have happened to Reason 9 would such a user have a Reason 10 Upgrade once Reason 10 is released?

How can such a user could have known, that upgrading on 02.09.2017 would maybe result in a Reason 10 upgrade (if the Reason 10 announcement was made on 22.09.2017)?

And what about the users who still have a Reason 8 upgrade and wanted to upgrade to Reason 9?

I suppose that there are some gaps in the upgrade policy.
Missing an upgrade to an actual version because of a few days may be a little bit unpleasent.

I am keen to hear the informed opinion from the music-making community.

Reason 10 hasn't been released yet. If you're on Reason 8, you can upgrade now to Reason 9 for $129 USD, and get version 10 for free when it is released (Oct 25 2017).

Incidentally, the 9.5 Update with VST support was a free update, so that's included as well.
