You mean from a competitor product? No I have not. The only sales promotion I've considered and done is group buys. I keep the price as low as can be for this niche product to still be worth the trouble, ..already hobby level..

has anyone tried loading this into either Waveform or Reaper? I can't get the demo to load into either....

Edit - realized after I posted this that one reason why this, and another, plugin didn't load was because i was using the 32 bit version of Waveform. Brilliant. It of course loads in the 64 bit version.

Maybe I can get an explanation of the disclaimer at the top of the midi specification? I don't quite understand it, but I suspect that it is the reason why sending the controllers listed is not having any effect.

Post

The MIDI specification and the hard coded mapping is how it was in 1.0. Since then MIDI learn has been implemented so you have full control how you want MIDI controls to be mapped to GUI controls. You only need to set it up once. It is saved per host (in macOS user preferences).

Post

i really dislike using midi learn. it is meant for setups where you have an easy way to send out individual midi controllers. I much prefer fixed routings, or the ability to just type in a number.

How many DAWS is Pulsar 900 working with?

just Ableton? I'm having trouble with Persons v2, Bitwig v2, Reaper.

I'm using Mac OSX Sierra 10.12.6: loads presets but I don't see the GUI

Post

Well, it's not easy to please everyone. I had quite a few people telling me they will not consider buying until the P900 has MIDI learn. I thought I did leave the initial fixed config in there but it was never tested without MIDI learn mappings, so may not work as before as I think you found out.

Post

i have nothing against midi learn being an option. but why not allow someone to type in a number rather than having to use it, and why disable the initial default settings?

Tested in Logic Pro, AU Lab, Ableton Live, Numerology, and it should also work in Max.

If you don't see the GUI, bring up the context menu and change the "Use Layers" setting under the "Host Preferences" menu.

Post

Answer from the website;

Move the mouse pointer over the plugin window and right click or (hold down two fingers on the track pad) to bring up the context menu. Go to “Host Preferences” and enable or disable the “Use Layers” option. If the context menu does not show up, you need to enable “secondary click” for your track pad, in OS X system preferences.

The correct setting for the “Use Layers” option is dependent on the version of macOS and the host DAW. You may need to try it both ways and see which setting works. The setting is persisted per host.

It's not deliberately disabled. The MIDI learn implementation superceded the previous one. MIDI learn works the way it does because it is a very simple-to-use solution that works for most uses.

Post

if it wasn't deliberately disabled, then either it's user error that I send these controllers and nothing happens, or it's a bug, then.

Midi learn is simple in theory if you have some kind of controller where you can quickly send out individual controllers, and if you have an easy way of keeping track of the ones that you've changed. I think that people who are into hardware modular synths often use sequencers to modulate parameters, and I just don't see how it is easy and simple in that case. You can have that as an option, but also allow the user to type in an '37' rather than send out controller 37 to have the program learn it.

I'm not asking you to disable midi learn, as I've stated multiple times now.

Any chance of another group buy? I completely missed the last one.

You can open one in sell and buy category.

I understand how you would like it to work. You asked why it doesn't work like that so I tried to explain why. It's not an unreasonable request at all. I don't know when I can get to it. Added to the list.
