Hi all,

I run my Live 9 on a windows 7 PC with a Focusrite 18i8 with 2 spare line ins and all ADAT ins. My daughter has brought me an Ipad 2 and after having a look at some of the App`s the Moog Model 15 has caught my ear. How easy/hard is it to control via midi and get the audio in Live 9.

Many thanks,
Glyn.

I don't think you can run Model 15 because the iPad 2 is 32-bit. From the app store description...

"Because the Model 15 App utilizes Apple’s Metal technology, only 64-bit devices are supported. Compatible devices include iPhone 5s or newer, iPod touch 6 or newer, iPad Air or newer, and the iPad Pro."

But to answer your question, it isn't too difficult -- assuming you have the necessary hardware/software. For what you are proposing, I would establish an Ableton Link or MIDI over wi-fi session with Model 15, record the audio in the app, then transfer to my PC. That's just one way to go about it.

Some of the newer analog-modelled synths like Model 15 require a 64-bit device so it's a no-go for an iPad 2. I think Animoog should run.

As for connecting it all up, you could use something like studiomux to get midi and audio in and out of a Windows PC. I use a Mac so haven't tried this (I went with musicIO instead but I hear it's Windows support isn't great).

Hi telecharge and sprnva,

thanks for your replies, I have checked the model number on the rear of my Ipad and it is a Air 2, so hopefully I can get the Model 15 running inside my Ableton Live 9 soon.

Cheers,
Glyn.

FWIW I have had the Model 15 app working with midi out and audio into Ableton Live on Windows 10 using Studiomux and a USB to lightning cable on an iPad Air One.

Thanks for that info mate, I will give it a go.

Just an FYI for anyone interested, studiomux requires iTunes and a "helper app" on your PC. That put me off of it, but others may not care.
