I noticed someone else listing them in their track a few OSCs back, and since then have been using toTape myself, assuming it was OK. It would be nice to have this confirmed :)

Thanks Mr.T

Been using Audition way back when it was CEP! My audio editor of choice. Will do some chopping up and see how I get on!

Thanks a lot - great help as always.

Yep, ME, TOO! Cool Edit Pro, yeah.... I was kinda sad when it went to Adobe, who were cutting out some features I used to love... :(
Anyway, you're VERY welcome!

This is why I love painting my own waveforms, though. It's just a warming up type of sound, but play it with some glissando like runs and the pitch wheel for little thrills, kind of like a sitar or some rather Indian type of string, I suppose, and it's pretty exciting... maybe because it fits so pretty into my mix, but I enjoy the complexity of it. :phones:

Carefully playing with the Phase and Mod of it can adjust the character across the keys quite well!

Is microtuning possible with this synth?

I did not try on my own, but, can possibility to load own wavetables enables microtuning?

Will usage of a wavetable tuned other than 12 TET help? I fear not, because it will make all 12 notes tuned accoring to waveform but still 12 TET. Am I right?

Or is there any work around to make zebralette play microtonal music?

Thanks. :)

A new prize has arrived: Synthmorph soundsets

Choose any one soundset of six. This here is a really impressive morphing soundset:

I use desk alot and have a template set up for the console4 with the bus. Its very subtle. I dont see why it would be an issue. Its really just light staturation.

Hi there, long time lurker trying to make something this month... but I have a question: I saw that Zebra CM and Zebra 2 were allowed, but they are no longer allowed?

Only Zebralette per BJ Porter.

That's a good find. I'll put that on the op

Hi guys! I've never participated in the OSC and have some questions about what's allowed and what's not. For me, the rules are too obscure in some aspects, so I need some help.

1. The rules explicitly say the granular delay effect are disallowed. But what about the generic delay effects? Are they allowed? And what is the length threshold after which the generic delay can be considered granular? Is this granular enough?
https://soundcloud.com/user-168092994-4 ... le/s-qe6v2
And what about this one?
https://soundcloud.com/user-168092994-4 ... -2/s-8GNor

2. The rules say nothing at all about equalizers. Can I use equalizers with low pass and high pass filters? How much can I alter the synthesizer output with an equalizer? In the following example I applied an equalizer to the hi-hat sound to make it more realistic. And I'm not sure I can achieve the same sound with the synthesizer itself.

3. What about parameter automation and modulation? Can I use built-in modulation capabilities of my DAW? For example can I modulate an equalizer band frequency with the output of the synthesizer? In the following example I used this effect it for the snare sound and turned off in the last two bars.

1. Your delay usage seems fine. The 2nd case is getting close to flanger sound, but i think it's ok. This is an example of major abuse (creating a guitar like sound out of noise):

2. EQ is fine.

3. This is ok, but don't use modulation as a workaround to create special effects like chorus / phaser, etc.

Cool! Thank you for the answer. The hardest part though is to make a good use of this arsenal of allowed technologies :)

The hardest part is to make use of all that Zebralette has to offer first! :hyper:
...don't even think about "tricks" that much, lakken! Really, try to have the music and use of the synth dominate your considerations. In the mix, pay attention to balance, placement "on the stage" or inside your virtual environment and bring clarity to each instrument both by composition (note ranges not overlapping unless explicitly desired) and by EQ so to not let them interfere with each other accidentally. Last but not least some proper compression and limiting and you should be golden.
Thinking about mixing tricks for the sound is almost counter the mission statement of the OSC. I do love to use some distortion on occasion, which to some is stretching the freedom, but I try to do it purposefully and tastefully, actually bringing out qualities in the synth and enriching the music for the sake of musical qualities and not random effects.

But, yeah, focus on the synth and on the music first! :tu:
