Ah, so it is a sound issue then (just tried loading multiple Studio Drums Capsule patches and no crashes). And that's a very good point. That there is a fix disc coming out (with more sounds) just blows my mind... Thanks, Squids!!!

On a related note, I just heard back from IK technical support and got a very encouraging and helpful reply. It only took a day or two to get a response, which is very good in my opinion. So folks can probably lay off the IK support bashing now: they seem to be both helpful and prompt.

Yep!

But, a lot of esoundz customers will be happy to know that as long as they have purchased ANY ST2 product from www.esoundz.com, including ANY eROM or Capsule since January 2004, they TOO will be receiving this free gift courtesy of your friendly neighborhood Squid. :D

So don't say we never gave you nothin'! ;) Just kidding. Enjoy. This serves a few purposes as mentioned.

Thanks Squids. Is there a definitive problem-sound-list you could post? I'm going blind trying to put one together from all that have been posted!

I want to avoid them, or test them.

From what I´m concerned I think this is top notch customer service. I also went for the SS group buy and, although not spectacular I find many sounds in the pack extremely useful and high quality. I´m also having the same crashes reported when changing sounds, which was making me have second thoughts about the software. But IK´s attitude really excells all this.

So I guess we should have patience and in a way thank IK for their effort and honesty in assuming responsability for their faults. Something scarce in today´s world...

Squids

I got my group buy this week (which I am very happy about).

I am testing all the sounds in the Bass collection I got with it. Here are the problem sounds:

(Sonar 3.1.1, XP home, Pentium 4,2.8 Mhz, 1GB)

-Beatles 45 bass - distort badly
-Boubon bass - crash with reboot
-Liquid upright - crash
-Muffled love bass - crash
-Stand up - crash
-Stung - crash

regards

Eric

That's pretty much spot on what Sonic Synth (1) is great for - useful and high-quality sounds.

Of course, if you have the full SampleTank2 engine, you can do spectacular things with those sounds. 8)

Awesome customer support, thanks Squids!

I have one instrument to add to the problem list:

Ethnic - Fiddle

Lower velocities don't trigger F4 and F4#.

I love Flute of the Dunes and was nearly to tears when the velocity wasn't working right with it. Glad that it's getting fixed! :)

This was now more than 1 month ago - I have not received any disc yet - so squids, did it get lost or is it not ready yet ??

If it's not ready - any indication as to when you expect it to be ?

Our tests show different problem sounds than some of these. So, we're not ready yet. We have to figure out each sound and why it is doing that. I've explained that it has to do with going deeper into the original capabilities of ST1 and doing a few "tricks" that ST2 later on does not like. We had no idea this would happen when we did it of course. Those sounds don't have any problem loading in ST1.

Anyway, we haven't forgotten. We are testing and doing several things at once. When you guys email me with the details of your system it helps. If there is a sound crashing for you that is not crashing for us we need to try our best to duplicate the problem ourselves. It's a little tricky this one but we are committed to it. We thank you for your patience and hope that the hundreds of sounds that work just fine are carrying the value in the meantime. I've posted our list as well as some workarounds in the meantime... at least from what we've found. I'll see if I can find that post and repost it here.

Scotty wrote:Just wondering if it would be easier to give us a list of sounds that won't work properly in ST2 with instructions on how to delete them and maybe give us an equal number of new sounds in exchange via download ( or CD if bandwidth is an issue). I know that this would work for me and it would save you the headache of coming up with fixes.
Our tests have shown this:

In ST2 le...

Sonic Synth:

(Bass)Funkadelix bass
(Chormatic)Rotary clav
(Chormatic)Wah CLav MW,
(Brass-Winds)001 Brass Section
(Brass-winds)Big Brass
(Brass-winds) Second Baritone
(Guitar) compressed steel
(Misc Keys-Synths)Big Whoop
(Misc Keys-Synths) Bigger Whoop
(Misc Keys-Synths) Speed Pad
(Misc Keys-Synths)Ye Old Space Organ
(piano stack) hammerstack Piano
(piano stack) Rag Timez 10
(SFX) Alien Horn
(SFX) Digital Kahuna
(SFX) LIquauox
(SFX) Neptune's Garden
(synth pads) Chime to go
(synth pads) chime vox
(synth pads) Recitfy Pad
(synth pads) Thick Space
(synth pads) VelPort Pad
(synth pads) zow pad

Now, depending on the host these sounds can either not load properly or cause ST2 LE to crash. The reason for this is because something that we did for ST1 is not compatible with ST2 playback. We have to go into the sound and find the cultprit (perhaps a matrix connection) and then adjust it. But, doing that so it can be downloadable vs. making a CD is something we're working on. Luckily, this is 23 sounds out of over 500 that came with the group buy. I don't think there is any question of missing value. However, I do realize that it is like walking on eggshells if you have a host that crashes though. Sorry I didn't post the list earlier for this purpose (although other people have in the SR forum so I figured one could just read that and delete them temporarily).

Anyway, in your Windows Explorer or Mac Finder, all you have to do is go to your SampleTank Instruments folder and within that the would be your Sonic Synth folder. Within the Sonic Synth folder there are the subfolders that are shown in the (parenthesis) in my list. Inside those folders delete the three files that start with the patch name to the right of the parenthesis in my list and end with a .sti, .sth and .stw extension. These are the three files that go together to make up each SampleTank parent sound.
Scotty wrote:That's great information. Just wondering if you have had a chance to test Omni synth and the add-on libraries for ST2 compatibility. I have the acoustic drums and guitar add-ons . Many thanks.

Omni doesn't have any, neither does Acoustic Drums or Symphony Strings. These three have just a few:

Bass Collection: Burbon, liquid upright, muffled love, stand up, stung

Guitar Collection: Dirty Nylons

Piano Collection: Home Tape Piano (one C# note had a digital glitch)

Hmm..While the sound compatibility issues get ironed out, maybe you could have a downloadable version of SampleTank 1 LE that group buy ppl can use these sounds on till it's all sorted?

That would take off some of the pressure to produce a cure NOW NOW NOW..& let you get it done correctly at your own speed & we'll have something to use with the incompatibles for now that wouldn't really be a kick in the groin to make available..

Just a thought..

Post

Can't do that Sick. We don't have permission to do that, it's not our product to give away. Remember esoundz has to buy SampleTank LE AND bundle it because it is an OEM product. So, the best we can do is provide a fix for as many of the sounds that we can find a problem with in ST2 LE that were originally designed for ST1. Our list is a little different than some of the others in this thread though and this we have to look into further (even though our list came from tests on 4 different systems coming up with the same results).

This is the only thing we will be able to do and we're doing it as fast as we can.

Post

Ahh..I gotcha..

Well, no worries here, take your time. There's tons of sounds there & combining this with the two v2 free versions, the sounds are piling up pretty high..

More than enough for me in the meantime :D
