Dafuq? 300€ to upgrade from MPB2 which I purchased not even a year ago, I think (and never use)?
Wake me up when they pay us to upgrade.

Splice are running a rent-to-own model for Ozone 8 and Neutron 2. $9.99 per month for individual products or $14.99 per month for both. Total cost isn't explicit on the information pages but the sign-up page says it is a total of 25 installments for the bundle, which is around $375. As with their Serum rent-to-own deal, you can bail at any time.

I found Neutron very useful and am seriously considering the bundle but have a project which uses it heavily that is close to completion. Does anyone know if Neutron 2 installs alongside the original or if it is 100% compatible?

Already own Trash 2, Ozone 5 Advanced, Stutter Edit, RX 4 Standard, RX6 Elements, Alloy 2, Breaktweaker, Nectar 2 Suite, DDLY Dynamic Delay...
...and for that I get a loyalty upgrade to Music Production Suite for $499 (Advanced path from Ozone 5 Advanced). Whereas, if I owned nothing, the Suite is available on sale for $700.
Ha.

To answer my own question, Neutron 2 appears to install happily alongside the original.andrew71 wrote:Does anyone know if Neutron 2 installs alongside the original or if it is 100% compatible?

The rent to own thing looks atractive, nevertheless I wonder if you get the next updates along the line, because given how Izotope is updating when you are finished paying the 25 intallments they will be releasing Ozone 11 and Neutron 5

Probably the latter, so just assume a perpetual "rent to own" cycle at $15/month.rod_zero wrote:The rent to own thing looks atractive, nevertheless I wonder if you get the next updates along the line, because given how Izotope is updating when you are finished paying the 25 intallments they will be releasing Ozone 11 and Neutron 5
A little spendy when you consider that you can do the Slate everything bundle which gives you a far bigger variety of tools for the same subscription cost.

that $15/month seems tempting but when a new version comes out you're still paying for the old until it's paid for or you wasted the money that you invested into it. Seems like a lose lose. Besides when you do the payment plan you're paying the base price when instead you can a lot cheaper for the introduction price or Christmas deals, student discount, etc..andrew71 wrote:Splice are running a rent-to-own model for Ozone 8 and Neutron 2. $9.99 per month for individual products or $14.99 per month for both. I really like ozone and neutron. I have the current MPB 2 and also own RX 6. Adding RX is a great deal for those who need that functionality and RX is amazing software. But, $300 upgrade when I already bought MPB2 and RX6 standard is redonculus! No way.

They dont have an upgrade from the production bundle 2?SLiC wrote:Yup- all the upgrade process are also up if you have an account and log in. Standard 7 (or earlier) to 8 upgrade 99 bucks, Advanced 200 bucks. crazy that its the same price to upgrade from 5 (which I would recommend) as it is 7 (I really cant see much difference here)mcbpete wrote:Have they just silently put this out there without a release fanfare?! I went on their site this morning to see if there was any more teaser information saying what's in each update and BAM it's/they're released: https://www.izotope.com/en/products/bundles/o8n2.html
I own Music Production Bundle 2 so have Ozone 7 Advanced and Neutron, the cheapest upgrade fro me to get Ozone 8 Advanced, Neutron 2 Advanced is 300 bucks, so I will probably skip this years updates.

So… other than the junky pricing scheme, how are the goods?
- I don't even know what the spectral thingie is or does, is that a glorified de-esser?
- Is the master assistant basically the same as me throwing Neutron on the master bus, which I always want to do, just to help me learn where my eq curves should sit?
- The mini channel strip thingie that connects to the tonal balance thingie, that looks potentially useful. Is it?
- Any other unsung sound or workflow improvements?

They do. It's still $300.LGK_Dude wrote:They dont have an upgrade from the production bundle 2?SLiC wrote:Yup- all the upgrade process are also up if you have an account and log in. Completely absurd for two seemingly minor product updates plus RX Standard, which is probably going to have relatively limited appeal.

Most of the initial videos out right now seem like marketing and/or demos. Wait for the real independent reviewers and producers to spend some time with it in the coming weeks/months.dangayle wrote:So… other than the junky pricing scheme, how are the goods?
