On the product comparison page here

it seems to say that if you get Neutron 2 Standard, the EQ, compressor etc are *not* available as plugins. Uhm, wait, what? Can this be right? I have Neutron 1 Advanced, and its strength is as a channel strip VST plug, with a GUI that lets you quickly move from one module to another, within one tidy package. If for Neutron 2 these are not plugins, then what ... each of those modules is its own offline standalone thingy? Can't be right. That would render it much less useful, to say the least. So much so that there's a fair chance I've misunderstood something here. Can anyone shed some light?

In the standard versions the various units are not available as separate plugins. You can still load the Neutron VST as an insert and use the EQ or other modules on their own if you want and you can still chain up to five (I think) modules inside it. You can’t just load the Neutron EQ in its own insert slot as I believe you can in the advanced version.

The features that I wish were in the standard versions but aren’t are the mixtap from Ozone and the inter-plugin communication between Neutron and Ozone.

Ah, I see, thanks for clearing that up.

Having browsed a few of their videos, the visual mixer and the tonal balance thing seem like they could be quite useful sometimes, but you'd have to have a lot of instances open in a busy mix. I could imagine 15+, combines with other FX, might bring my PC to its knees (4 year old W7 i7 2.7 ghz, 16 gb ram)

Here's predicting some Christmas sales coming up... with about 6 additional "deals" in the following year, followed by a "revolution in mixing" with O9 and N3 in the fall of 2018.

Still on Alloy 2 and Ozone 5. Pretty content with these. I like Izotope's products a lot, but their marketing sucks, and it has sucked for quite a while now. I guess my disenchantment began with Iris 2, which should have been a 1.5 free upgrade for existing users.

Have to admit, reading this thread has been a real surprise for me. I got Neutron about a month ago. Really happy with it. Has made a big difference in how I mix. But I guess product quality can't make up for whatever else the company lacks. In this case, it appears to be business smarts.

Cheapest price if you own MPB2 is to go to JRR and buy the Neutron Advanced upgrade and Ozone Advanced Upgrade separately. What nonsense is this, iZotope?

This has to be one of the worse updates against the customers.

1. for products that just where released some time ago.

2. the price is unbelievable, even for an upgrade, is like they don't have consideration or any empathy for their former customers.

3. is more than obvious this is just business and all this is about money and monopolies (as many apple products, too expensive).

but some people love these sort of thing

many graphics and interface...

Tonight I produced, mixed and mastered a quick track for Cities & Memories with O8N2 and I have to confess: I‘m really impressed especially by the new Tonal Balance plugin. It gives good guidence to clean up murky, muddy things which I haven‘t heard anymore because I was too involved into producing these sounds...
So my (obviously minority) opinion in this thread is: Upgrade was worth it!

Just to chime in here since we chatted about this. I'm sure that I will eventually upgrade, but like others, I'll be waiting on a better offer. I'm not as grumbly about the price overall because I want a copy of RX6, however, I'm not dying for it so it can wait.

However, the reason that I can wait for Neutron and Ozone is because I don't really use these products for the "A/I." What I like about Neutron is that it is a compact and flexible channel strip with a very functional U/I. I'm actually glad that Neutron 2 is a separate product because I'll imagine that I'll just keeping using Neutron 1 for the most part as my channel strip and only bring in Neutron 2 when I want to leverage the new features and don't mind the expected CPU usage. While I'm not so critical of synths that use a lot of CPU, and even though the same reasoning applies, I find that I seldom need super high CPU usage in channel strips because the convenience of having many instances far outweighs the small improvements from better modeling.

I have almost no interest whatsoever in that silly mixer thing.

Ozone is a part of my mastering solution but it's almost never the whole story and the standalone version absolutely sucks at detecting plugins so I just don't have time to waste with that. I use Ozone as much for the individual plugins as I do for the integrated mastering solution with presets. Reaper effects chains are actually a better solution for me for the most part.

Yep, i decided not to support this kind of companies anymore too. Simply no need to burn my money for "updates" every few month when you have so many other alternatives.
