I've only gotten one today. I'm offended that Izotope doesn't value me as a customer!

So my (obviously minority) opinion in this thread is: Upgrade was worth it!

Agreed, I took the $299 upgrade from MPB2 to MPS, I've always owned/brought the Advanced versions. I have no regrets, it does an excellent job (still things to explore and learn). The only regret I would have is if I had waited for a lower price, much rather have this and be using it now than sit back and wait for it, and after all, it was only $299, so much the same as a night out on the town, except I get to keep getting benefit out of this again and again, that's my rationale anyway, well worth it.

Yep, i decided not to support this kind of companies anymore too. Simply no need to burn my money for "updates" every few month when you have so many other alternatives.

I really like Ozone and Neutron that I bought last year. I really like RX that I bought last year. I don't really like the thought of paying that much for an upgrade to get RX(which I already own) as an add on to the other features with no different upgrade path.

No go for me. Guess I'll go T-Racks 5 this time. I find my self using Ozone more now, but I'll give IK a chance now.

Ask them to clarify, to me looks like it isn't.

I just tried installing the demo version, and it looks optimized to me – not pixelated like, for instance, (most) software from Native Instruments.

Anyone wondering why some music companies go down the drain may search for "izotope financial investor" or "propellerhead financial investor". As soon as they are fixed on with external capital to "fuel expansion" everything goes downhill.

Pseudo-innovations get mega-hyped via big marketing budgets. Manpower (support, development, research) gets "optimized" eg. scaled down and business-school-101 pricing schemes normally used for sport shoes take over.

I think that is what is happening here and I wait patiently for their next super-sale within the next 6 month. Because IMHO they will sell next to no upgrades. Their cash flow will tank. They will panic and we will see upgrades for 40% of the current pricing.

I must be honest (and speaking as an enormous fan of iZotope products in general) I think they really oversold this latest release, the way the promotional material played out you would have thought this was the second coming of Christ !

And this isn't a criticism of their product, the product is a perfectly good upgrade to the previous version, but it's hardly the 'revolution' they were shouting about, just some improvements and more integration to tools we already own, and the additional tools like the Tonal Balance control already exist (iZotope have essentially copied Reference, by Mastering the Mix), these are not revolutionary breakthroughs in any sense of the word.

Like I say, these are decent worthwhile updates, no criticism there, but it looks like the marketing department sold them as groundbreaking revolutionary you-will-never-work-the-same-way-again 'game changers', and that's what they appear to be charging for.

I suspect the iZotope bean counters are responsible for tasking the marketing department with this. Unfortunately, bean counters tend to be short-sighted rather than visionary...and can do more harm than good over the long-term.
