Hi,
I did a small change to the Default theme file Default_5.0.ReaperThemeZip and noticed a big drop in file size:

Original:
7,77 MB

After customizing:
676 KB

So, it seems, the original theme file is zipped but not packed...
Why?

I found last doing that at first startup with truly zipped - it just takes a little longer.

I noticed the same as you did running trial v5.4 and trying to get theme as I wanted it - but have no real explanation other than startup might be a sec longer.

If not needing to move theme and upload and similar - you can just keep the folders with theme parts on disk.

Ok, so it's for performance reasons obviously.

Anyway, my Reaper still starts quick (2-3 sec). :D

Yes, Reaper is blessed that way - low on resources.

I tried to like it a couple of times - but something that I miss compared to Cubase or Sonar.
It just feels off. VCA's are just no visuals what you did - until you apply to all to automation and remove it - in Reaper you just see on meter - oh, here levels increase and even do overs and similar. And no nesting of VCA groups.

And locking tracks does not fully work - I have a video track, and had to put video in clipboard while rearranging audio parts or copying project wide and similar.

Cubase do all that elegantly.
