This one will not allow refunds, so if you pay your $30 (AUD) you lose it if the app does not do what you want/need! And the manual is totally useless as it only gives broad "overviews" of each section. So you are left with a "pig in a poke" scenario - suck it and see with no going back!
I sent several messages prior to purchase, got one response back but had supplementary questions, none of which can get answered as the help system (email) does not work all that well it seems. As in some form of auto repsonse is always sent (stating answered) with no actaul replies visible.
So now I'm stuck with it and cannot use it! For example it is not supposed to support midi in, but when I play my connected keyboard it keeps playing drum notes (over the top of the other instruments I am playing) cannot find anywhere to actually turn this off! It is pretty ordinary at picking up keyboard played levels too. I think it is really designed for a guitarist.
So yeah, be REALLY careful before buying...oh and there is NO demo version either.
UPDATE EDIT: Well looks like they have gotten back to me, so hopefully some more answers.

You can get a refund on some items via the Report A Problem option in iTunes store under your account. Several options there. Depends on the app developer (afaik) to actaully allow it to happen, IE it is not an Apple choice but a developer choice, but yeah the options are there.

No wrong again. I recently got an app that was the wrong one and got a refund for it. And that was three days later. THe app worked exactly as advetised, it was just the worng one. As I wrote above I think it depends on the app developer. All I can say is it does work

So you bought another app that was just the wrong one??? You probably need to think a tad more before you hit the buy button.

jeez you guys...just trying to post some info and you all get wrapped up in refunds and no you can't and blah de blah. Give it a rest hey?
There were genuine reasons which I will not go in to here. And in any case imo a refund should be an option if a developer does not provide a demo version. "Just send me $50, and if the app don't suit, well tough tit! - sucker"
One can read all about an app and read all the spin, but nothing beats actually trying in your own situation and with your own gear and methodology. At the very least an in-depth manual (not just one giving an overiew - but the real "nuts and bolts") would make it easier.

The title of the thread is misleading though. The criticism isn’t specific to X-Drummer, it applies to virtually every app within iOS. I believe Apple ended the “window for a refund” facility a while back.
However I clicked to listen to a demo for an expensive IAP on an app and for some unknown reason it started downloading and charged my Itunes account with no warning. I got in touch with Apple 2 minutes later without testing anything and explained what had happened.
They said they don’t normally allow refunds for any downloads but they agreed to use their discretion on this one occasion and they re-credited my account.
Agree with the sentiment of your criticism though.
I try to read manuals or watch YouTube reviews and if theres limited info then I don’t buy, expecially if it’s quite expensive.

Microsoft claims to offer a 30-day guarantee on their software (or they did when it came in boxes), but of course you'll be "encouraged" to try support first... possibly for 30+ days as they fail to be responsive to support inquiries (or charge you for advanced support)...ATS wrote:I've never seen software that offers refunds
