Is the Rise 25/49worth the money?
Has it changed your workflow?
Is your music any different due to the new possibilities?
Are there still too many bugs / installation issues to make this a serious contender?
Does it irritate the fingers in the long run?
Is this technology a gimmick that will ultimately break through to the average Joe?
They include the Tracktion DAW - is it good and does it fully support automation etc. I know some DAWs won't.

Many questions but I think a summery could help a lot of potential buyers :-) - this thread is 44 pages
-I think it most definately is. Great support is part of the whole thing
-yes, most definately for me. Its kinda switched my songs to melody first approach
-yes, new things happen that weren't happening before
-takes a little getting used to but not in a big way as your work with it as it is and not in spite of it
-I don't believe anything is a gimmick in the right creative hands
-I love the composing tools in Waveform but haven't used it that much overall. I use it in Cubase or Bitwig and am happy.

It has completely changed my music making (for the better). For example I find even playing something like bass on my ROLI adds a huge amount of realism to my tracks due to the slight pitch bend on each note and expression I can give - it just sounds very human. I still use a normal controller for things like Piano playing etc. but the ROLI is used for most things I want to be 'Analogue like'

Great answers, they help a lot. My main gripe is that I have to switch to another DAW in order to use a Seaboard as my current (FL Studio) doesn't support the MIDI messages sent by The Seaboard. It will act as an ordinary MIDI controller. I take it that Waveform does but learning both the Seaboard and an all new DAW at the same time is a bit of work.

That's what I've done with Bitwig. It only took me a few sessions to get over the hump so it didn't end up being as terrible as I thought it might be. That said, still spend more time in Orion than I do in Bitwig but I'm sure that will change over time.

To be honest, though, I really only use my Rise with the standalone version of Equator. It's more like a hardware synth to me than a controller and, as such, I'll probably only ever use it live. Given that, it hasn't revolutionised anything for me, it more just a cool gadget that I enjoy using and exploring.

That's good news :-) Are still including Bitwig? It seems that there are lots of different bundles available. The Rise 49 comes bundled with FXpansion Strobe, Equator, Bitwig 8 track and Waveform for £999 at Gear4music.com but other shops only bundles it with Equator and Bitwig

Yeah, for the most part it's a musician's instrument made for playing. In terms of programming music, I imagine it otherwise. Not really one for clicking away in the pianoroll, right

Probably just some stores haven't updated their listings.

I'm pretty confident you will get the same bundled software everywhere because the way these items are handled is that you register your seaboard with roli on their website, and then various serial numbers, coupon codes and downloads are available in your roli.com account dashboard.

Yeah they didn't start including Waveform until recently. But that even comes with the seaboard blocks.

That does indeed make sense. Otherwise some shops would have a hard time pushing a sale as opposed to others :hihi:

Just seen they are doing the cashback on the Rise 25 and Rise 49 from now until he end of the year.

I prefer the feel of the Seaboard Block as I am not a keyboard player by nature, but is it worth paying the extra for the Rise 25?

Thanks SX

I've not tried a block but I just bought a Rise 25 - with the Rise you get the XY pad and sliders. You can then assign those to different CCs than the keywaves - useful if you've got modular gear or just want something other than volume, pitch and brightness.

I think I missed out on the money back (I'm asking Roli) but you can sell on some of the bundled software, like the Tracktion (or Melodyne which then comes with that), or Strobe2 to help defray the cost.

Whoa!!! That's awesome. Now the Rise 49 enters a price class where a purchase is pretty pretty much a no brainer. Great way to boost sales by Roli :tu:

Thank you for the feedback, yeah looking like I will have to go for a Rise 25 for the extra hardware features. Early Xmas present :)

That's awesome, thanks for the heads up. Can't seem to find a list of qualifying retailers yet though:

A complete list of participating retailers can be found on the Qualifying Retailers page on rolicashback.com/rise. Third party websites and auction sites are excluded from this promotion, even if sold by a qualifying reseller.
https://roli.com/legal/rise-cashback-te ... conditions

The link rolicashback.com/rise currently re-directs to https://rolicashback.com/gb/en/pages/rise/holding

I wouldn't want to miss out on the cashback because my retailer of choice is not on their list so in principle I cannot order until that list is made public and the same would be true for everyone else I guess. Please fix this Roli.

I can't seem to find any list of retailers at all. Or any cashback claim form for that matter. Severely annoying sence the offer was launched at oct 23.

Exactly. The Purchase and Claim links on the holding page are non-functional. Apparently they intend to put up the actual page on 21 November 2017 or 'soon', whichever comes first:

Full terms and conditions are available on https://roli.com/legal/rise-cashback-terms and conditions.
Full redemption site coming soon.
This is not very smart, if anything this is going to reduce sales right now instead of promoting them.
