I'm looking for an app that could be helpful for me to do 'beat' sketches while I'm not in my studio.

Something that would have a very quick workflow, building up instruments quickly, but not too limited. The point here is that it doesn't need to be too complicated, as the complicated work would later be done on the computer anyways. I would be using it more as creating the structure or the feel of the beat, or even the melodies (a.k.a themes in hiphop beats scenario).

Doesn't need to be free.

Also would like to ask if iPhone with its strong CPU essential for doing this sequencing thing on a phone. I have an android device, and am considering to change. If the iPhone's powerful CPU is necessary, I'd take that path. Seems like most useful apps seem to be on app store anyways too.. iPad won't be an option.

P.S My main DAW is Cubase 9.

I use FL Studio Mobile 3, though it's on a tablet rather than a phone. But you can zoom in and out very easily, so you shouldn't have any problems on a phone, depending on how new it is, how much RAM and storage it has, and so on.

Others you could look at are Stagelight and Caustic 3.
