Chord Generator Defaults

Is there a way to set a default for the chord generator? I'd prefer to have "bar" length, rather than 1/4 as my default. Otherwise, I have to edit each individual bar, which becomes tedious depending on the length of the section I am working on. (I am talking about the default phrase length)

One thing that occurred to me, you can already do this today.
Not many users are aware of this but you can save phrase generator presets, that you can use later.
That is you can customize a phrase generator and store it in the phrase browser.
So make a modified Chord Generator, or any other phrase generator:
Step 1: Prepare the phrase
Add a new phrase generator, and make adjustments to its properties. Apply the changes.

Step 2: Save the preset
Right click on the phrase, and among the actions locate "Save Selected Phrases"

Step 3: Your custom phrase generator is available in the browser:

bingo, that works for me. I totally forgot about the generator presets. There is a bar preset already.. I have been away from using the software and may have forgotten some of the basic how to's. So, unless it is worth the effort to add the change, I wouldn't bother with it. Thanks!

Sometimes I forget about it too! I'll copy the post above to the Tips&Tricks sub-forum.
This is a convenient way to make several versions of the same phrase generator with default values.
E.g. make a monophonic version of Generic Generator, or another one with full polyphony with your choice of rhythm generator.
Thanks,
Attila

I have questions/suggestions about this.
In the phrase properties it would be nice to have longer options than bar: 2 bars, 4 bars, 8 bars at least. Maybe there is another way to do this that I'm not aware of. If I stretch the chord to 2 bars long and try to save it as a preset it still saves one bar long.
Other options that would be awsome is fit chord and/or chord divisions to whole parts creating separate chord lenghts on the fly according to already defined chord change in the part (one big chord to fit an entire part as an option). And also to the entire master track. So when we come up with a long chord progression, either from drag and drop various progressions from the prog window or manually entered building a long song with many different part, with one click the generetor could put chords all the way to the end according to the chord sequences.

That may already work, if I understand correctly.. try having all the parts of the song visible on the master track then just dropping on the track header area.. ??? I may not fully understand what you want to do to..

Thanks that helped it actually solved part of my problem. What I would like to see is when a chord in the master track is longer than one bar is that you could select an option in the chord generator that could be adjusted to fit automatically various chord length. Right now it will for exemple create two chords when it is 2 bar long. So I have to delete one and resize the other to fit.BluGenes wrote:That may already work, if I understand correctly.. try having all the parts of the song visible on the master track then just dropping on the track header area.. ??? I have another question: if I have 4 parts is possible to fill with generetor only part 1 and 2? Or say part 1 and 3 ?

Just make the part you want to work on the only visible part. do your magic, repeat and rinse.Boone777 wrote:

To answer your first part question, in the phrase browser, very top, is a setting to tell the generators how long to make the phrase. However, it is known bug that it may not work correctly with all generators and has since been fixed. (setting it to 1 bar, that is). Otherwise, you will just have to manually edit to fit your needs. Also, in the phrase inspector there is a click option for phrase length as well.. right click the phrase and it's the wrench icon. Don't forget you can also work with beats rather than bars, too.
