They should only charge a fee if the plugin is not under "WUP" subscription - oh wait a minute they do that already anyway :ud:

Wup or fee. Doesn't matter as i don't care anymore.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

It makes me want to sell off my account for $200 and be done with them
Since their forced you to have active WUP when you want to sell i never bought anything anymore from them. Not to speak about the fee. It's great not to have any GAS when they spam you with their daily deals anymore. :)
I have a bunch of Waves products, mostly their analogue models which I enjoy using. I used to have Gold but sold it (thankfully before the big sale). I am fine with the idea of whatever I have with Waves being the end of it, meaning not buying any more, upgrading or selling. I can't really justify selling them because of the low prices I'd be stuck asking and the new fee. So that's fine but they aren't going to get any more of my money for new products. I am fine with the idea of keeping what I have because as I mentioned they are useful to me and will continue to be so. But it's a huge write-off in terms of value, in terms of the idea of getting some money back if I decided to sell any of them. That is the primary reason I am done with Waves. No more purchases from them because of the business changes of theirs. I think that's perfectly reasonable considering their latest antics with the ultra-low sales prices and new transfer fee. Waves business owners = Greedy predatory capitalists.

I think it works both ways. If the prices are so cheap as they are then you wont have much of a loss if you can't sell your plugins second hand later on.

If people were to sell their car they wouldn’t get all their money back, or a used instrument. Other software is the same too. Older software sells for less.

We almost always run at a loss when we sell something secondhand. With the amount of sales that are going on every week from every developer, new buyers are more inclined to grab a deal from there than go through the hassles of buying from a user. There’s certainly less financial risk involved.

Reading this thread I am sure a lot of people here buy plugins with the intention of selling them later. Like why buy in the first place?

BTW I think it is crazy not have a flat fee for transfers. Also people used to pay those list prices for Waves plugins MANY years ago. But man have times changed.

It's a specialised customer service that requires a reliable system, staff effort and maintenance - so it's certainly acceptable to pass some or all of that cost onto the consumer - but wasn't that part of the whole premise behind the WUP scheme?

So it's a double-tax then - they are clipping the ticket twice.. and there isn't even a middle man.

PS could you pay me an oxygen tax? I'm trying to save the planet... what? you don't care about the planet? :hihi:
