The analysis modes seem more involved than simple filtering of the detector input signal (that's what the Filter parameter does). Any info about what's actually going on under the hood (without sharing trade secrets)?

Bug: menu tabs not working with scroll wheel. Seems to want to budge to other settings, but ends up back to the original menu entry.

Thanks for the bug report! We'll look into that.
For the analysis modes, we're using various Music Information Retrieval algorithms (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_inf ... _retrieval) to match the audio up against various descriptors.

Ok, demoed
This compressor is deadly.
Threshold to silence, with grooves all the way.
I love it.
damn it

The auto threshold is ingenious; almost foolproof. Mainly stuck to the amplitude analysis mode, and so far I'm floored by Zip. I thought G8 was a great dynamics tool (& still look forward to the update), but Zip has so many applications it's silly. Going to dive deeper in tomorrow, but first impressions are very encouraging
With my 80+ comp plugs, I didn't foresee wanting another. Not even the overpriced distressor emus had me gassing, and I wanted one for years. What's happening?

Hi there. Sorry to derail the thread, but do you plan to incorporate the modulation system into g8? That'd be wicked awesome.thelizard wrote:Thanks for the bug report! We'll look into that.

Sooooo is the sidechaining available to the modulation system (input follower)? If so will this be added to your other products? It would be useful for very many things.

I was super excited about Zip from the announcement and demo videos. But in actual practice last night it didn't seem to have the magic. I was treating it like I would any compressor, where the competition is fierce and I have my favorites already, except I tried a couple of the more unique features in that role.
But I'm going to give it more of a chance by getting out of the "compressor" mindset a bit more.

Yes, although we can't make any promises on timelines quite yet. Since adding in a sidechain input will change each plugin's channel configuration, it could lead to us breaking backwards compatibility.Ah_Dziz wrote:Sooooo is the sidechaining available to the modulation system (input follower)? Yep! We have to finish the G8 1.5 patch first. Adding the modulation system will need a ground-up rewrite, but it's on our agenda for next year.masterhiggins wrote:Hi there. it's an amazingly creative and versatile plugin (as always).
but i feel the CPU tax will prevent me from buying this compressor.

Amazing compressor, very impressed with the ways it allows you to tame or expand specific areas of sound.
Being able to use the modulations for fx is a nice touch.
Been having lots of fun ducking pads for movement, and step sequencing the color to add vibe.
The CPU usage is low for me using Ableton on a laptop.

Yeah CPU is pretty light here, you're on a mac right? Have you tried it withoutsqigls wrote:it's an amazingly creative and versatile plugin (as always).

opengl? Typically opengl is faster and more efficient, "unless" your system
has trouble with it.
-Cheers
