I found Thorn to be super fun and inspiring, and also fast and easy to work with and to get interesting results quickly. I like the ease of assigning modulation routing, although I would prefer being able to control the modulation amount directly on the knob being modulated (maybe this is there and I just haven't found the key combination yet). Also, like others have said, there really needs to be a GUI resolution between normal and large. Overall, I thought this was a no brainer at the introductory price.
Download the v1.0.1 update ;)
GUI sizes a plenty

I love the randomizer function in tantra. Maybe as an update here too?

I really like this track, not only the synth sounds, but the composition, the overall mood etc. Where could I check out your other music?

And purchased.
Finally I can work on a track without tidal waves of noise.

Truth be told I find the demo reminders very gentle. With fade ins. It also seems to me that noise burst timing is synchronized across all instances, however I might be wrong.

No idea what you're talking about. LinPlug are (or were) a perfectly good creator of synthesizers, and Spectral is a very decent synth.
As Simon explained, he is talking about the sound of the synths. That is what 'substitute' means in this context. I can't think of any context in which the word 'substitute' has got anything to do with the price of two things?

I know Spectral is a great synth. I've owned it for years. I discussed my views on the similarities and differences between the features of Thorn and Spectral earlier in this thread.

They are sufficiently different to justify owning both (if you can afford it) IMHO.

You can't? Easy! :) For example, think of any supermarket product; i.e. generic vs brand products.

Why is the file size so big with Thorn, almost 500MB? Does it also take the same amount of space in RAM when running?

Usually non-sample based VSTs weigh well below 100MB, because there's just the GUI, some osc / wavetable presets and lots of maths. This is not a criticism BTW, just curious because I was surprised it took so long (compared to other plugins) to d/l it.

What means comparing Spectral and Thorn? The way for programming them is realy different and the sonic differences are not dependent from the limiter...with limiter off Thorn is unique as Spectral is...Thorn is developped and now Spectral is over as all the linplug...To my self Thorn is straight forward and easy to programm,I prefer the GUI and I can get the sound I like. Concerning spectral I newer programmed a pleasing sound on it...Powerfull beast however not my cup ot tea! "Many synths for every taste!"
I mean, your illiteracy speaks for itself. If I had the time and patience, to get to know you, then maybe your opinions have merit, but time is too short my friend. Please learn to communicate better, and I may be prepared to listen better.
Evidently, English is not his native tongue, and him not being 100% should not be a barrier to entry, nor basis for judgment on his opinions. I happened to understand everything he wrote

And, on the subject of being an arsehole on the forums, I would like to extend an apology to Plexuss. Regardless of whether I was right or wrong in my assessment of a particular situation, I regret lashing out. So...Sorry!

I'd love this too. It already has a limiter which i've found I usually have to add after a synth with a random button.

Not sure what you mean. I don't know about Zeta 2, but Element didn't sound like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. If any synth sounded like that, who would buy it?

No idea what it's supposed to mean either. And, there's a harmonic filter in Thorn, so, if you don't like the top end, just limit it. But, i don't feel like the oscillators are exactly VERY bright. Especially in the lower registers, they're not nearly as bright as in other synths.
