Audiomulch!!

Finally decided to try this to see what the fuss was about. Wow! Love the Nebuliser esp and the harmonics effects. And the Shaper - is that an additive effect? - very unique.
It's very stable too and the CPU hit is incredibly low for what it does - even when I push the granular effects up to 200 grains.
Does anyone have any links to sites that have contraptions for it? - it only comes with a few examples - I'd particularly like to see some incoming audio mangling ones.

All the contraptions are internal. If you want to add any, you'll have to use VSTs.aMUSEd wrote:Does anyone have any links to sites that have contraptions for it? - it only comes with a few examples - I'd particularly like to see some incoming audio mangling ones.
If it's patch-examples you're after, I'm sure there's a bunch online in the files-section of the AudioMulch Yahoo-group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mulch-discuss/).
A while ago someone uploaded a cool patch that was very Fennesz-like, except the only sound-sources used were Mulch contraptions.
Visiting the Yahoo group is worth it. You'll find out more about using Mulch there.

Thanks - thats what i meant - I thought it was the patches that were called contraptions, not the individual modules/effects.tetraplan wrote:All the contraptions are internal. Which one is the Fennesz like one?
Funny that if I try to download the amh files they sabe as xml files in Explorer but if I rename them it works OK.
btw - anyone looking for Spektral Monkeyage it's downloadable from here - cool.

It's called fennesz_rip.aMUSEd wrote:Which one is the Fennesz like one?
Hmmm. Looks like you should have found it with a name that obvious. Maybe it's taken down, or maybe it was simply a link in a posting (1).
In that case, you'll find it here. Michael Upton did the Mulch-only examples that come with Mulch, too. Great stuff and very inspiring.
XML seems to be a very popular portable format.Funny that if I try to download the amh files they sabe as xml files in Explorer but if I rename them it works OK.
Makes it possible to micro-hack your patches, too. If you're so inclined.
Thanks for the tip, forgot all about that.btw - anyone looking for Spektral Monkeyage it's downloadable from here - cool.

(1) come to think of it, I think it was just a link to the Nonwrestler site.

The whole MIDI side of things is nearly non-existent (no MIDI from plugins, and no MIDI clips).
For a somewhat similar program, with MIDI and much more check Plouge Bidule, which is amazing and free.

To add to this, MIDI paths are not explicit, but Mulch does have fairly extensive MIDI config capabilities using external sources.Spacefox wrote:No.xoxos wrote:is midi modular?

Bidule is only free for now, will be going pay in near-ish future. Cool app, with great unique features, but can't compete against Mulch as an audio app. Doesn't have linear automation envelopes either.
Better solution for explicit MIDI paths in a modular would be EnergyXT, which can be run as a plugin in Mulch. Get both for less than $100 bucks.
Cheers,

Audiomulch is absolutely fantastic. Just registered my copy a couple of weeks ago and it's one of the best investments I've ever made. Ross Bencina (Audiomulch's creator) is also a really nice guy and was very quick to respond to a bug report (which turned out not to be a bug at all
).
It's not perfect, I'm finding the lack of internal MIDI control a little restrictive now, and the automation editing could be a little more flexible, but it's the host more suited to my style of working than anything else I've tried so far.
