Digging through an hold hard drive and found my folder of experimental vst effects and instruments that I had collected a decade or more ago. This had me thinking...
What are some good sites to find experimental vst these days?
Looking for that old school weirdness.

Youre here, just check out the plugins database.
Inneardisplay and Glitchmachines are pretty bonkers glitched out plugins if you want to spend some money, both coded by the same Dev.
Also Unfiltered Audio come to mind.

All freebies:
Anarchy Rhythms might be of use to you - http://www.anarchy-rhythms.com/
Argotlunar - https://mourednik.github.io/argotlunar/
Might also be worth checking out the KVR Developers' Challenge for more goodies, quite a few oddities in there over the years. Last year there was Lord of the Springs and Noistar by Nusofting (who also make Bit Fluzer which is worth checking) which you might like.
Also check out developer xoxos at http://www.xoxos.net/ although I think these are all in 32 bit for reference.

To me, Unfiltered Audio (thanks to their modulation concept) and Inear Display plugins come to mind.

Talking of M4L devices, the new one Iota is rather nice - kinda like Iris 2 if it could actually modulate and loop the spectral bands.thecontrolcentre wrote:Unfiltered Audio, Glitchmachines, Surreal Machines, Sugar Bytes and Audio Damage ... also K-Devices and Amazing Noises if you have Max for Live.

Thanks for all the tips! Spending the day researching. Some I already have, but some of these are new.

One of the craziest contraptions i have ever seen as a VSTi is X11 by BV Music.
It has 'Experimental' written all over it, so maybe you can find some use for it.
Aside from the plugin theres a standalone version too in case you want to run it without firing up a DAW/Host.
PS: Im certain ive seen those knobs before. Could it be they lifted them from Predator?

Exactly what I was thinking. It's very green and it's ... Predator.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.
