Yeah, it is a bit over compressed - OK - I have removed ALL compression - only Ferric is active, and only in a subtle way as well. I'll update the original post to reflect the plugins used.
It perhaps doesn't have quite as much "punch" in the middle section, but then, as contrasting dynamics, it might still work OK?
Track replaced - DR 9 (reflects how dense it is I'm afraid!)

A lot of nice textures here. To me it's got an 80's vibe, harkening back to the original heyday of wavetable synths. I also like the minimalist approach to the chord progression.doctorbob wrote:Ok - here's what I have come up with since junking my first attempt into the dustbin! This is an extemely dense track and hope it has enough elements wthin it to satisfy the OSC audience.
For simplicity it is based only on 2 chords (Status Quo eat your hearts out!) - Am and Dm.
Only DAW and free 3rd party FX used for track processing. The majority of presets made either from INIT or drastically modified factory/net presets.
DAW: Reaper
Track details:
44 * Zebralette
44 * ReaEQ
1 * JS Bass Manager/Booster
9 * LFX-1310 (autopanner)
4 * Twin Delay
4 * Dub-Delay TAL
4 * TAL Reverb 4
11 * TAL Reverb II
Master
TDR VOS SlickEQ
Voxengo MSED
Ferric TDS
DR: 9
Please enjoy either loud or quiet on speakers/phones.
Just had to put it out there in case I need to do drastic revisions.

Thanks - yes, you got the vibe right ... and having used wavetable synths and soundcards(!) way back when, that was sort of the idea. The dense textures are there with lots of elements moving in and out and around the stereo space - trying to get a swirling effect as well as some build of tension. I quite like the effect of the double kick in the middle section working with the bassline - not quite a Ginger Baker Air Force with 2 bass drums!!!Local Man wrote:A lot of nice textures here. Making good progress on my track, hope i can finish in time.
I managed to put the sync function to good use, to pull out some classic sounds from the past
Its amazing how low cpu this little synth is, given the resulting sound, and that i use an old laptop.
The F/R knob in the adsr section is very useful, when i run out of MSEG^^
Back to having fun.

Hi all,
After seeing the new movie Blade Runner 2049 and hearing the wonderfull sounds of this soundtrack, I could not resist to try to do something in that style. The soundtrack of this new film is not so melodic like the old one from Vangelis, but it fits perfectly to the visual impressions. A few days later I had to see the film again, just to enjoy those pictures and sounds again!

I have not done any fancy things with the waveforms. Most of the sounds are more or less modified presets.

Hello, there!
This is my first contribution for the OSC. Let's see what you say about this little piece of music.
Since this is my first publication of music (except for the gigs with my band) and also my first mixing job, I would very much appreciate any kind of tips or advice.

Now for the track.
DAW is Mixcraft 7 Pro Studio
11x Zebralette
9x Acoustica EQ
2x Acoustica Pro Studio Reverb
2x Acoustica Reverb
1x Kjaerhus Classic Reverb
2x Kjaerhus Classic EQ
1x Broadcast Multiband Cempressor
1x iZotope Mastering Essentials
Any of the patches used in this track are presets, taken from U-He's large PatchLib, some are original (not tweaked), but the most have been modified by me.
Thanks to Taron for the choir.
Enjoy!

I hope you can make it. So far sounds good. Like your mix and how you place your instruments in "space".] Peter:H [ wrote:Hope I find the time to finalize the track...

This is my track -
https://soundcloud.com/racepeaceday/rpd-zebra-fortress
7 instances of Zebralette
Only build-in synth effects
Renoise
All sounds are stock presets: HS Cheese Bell, MM Wet Caves, HS Atlantic Swell (and 4 slightly modified presets)
Download version sounds better. Dont know why quality of soundcloud worse than .wav file. I'm still new to music.
