I beg to differ. For me, it's quite the opposite actually: the additional pixelisation makes it even more difficult to make out the elements which are already small on a laptop screen... I think Reason works best on big, 1080p screen, ideally two of them. I wouldn't mind the pixels there, because it fits with the "retro" paradigm of the rack, cabling and mixer; but it's difficult to accept when this stylistic choice gets in the way of usability.

To full screen: Window - Enter Full Screen. That does what you are looking for.

What are you talking about here? There is no such option under Windoze anyway.

I’m on an iMac, and the option to Enter Full Screen Mode is under the “Window” drop down menu.

Damn, yet another DAW where Mac users are treated better. There's full screen AND zoom available on Mac? Why not on Windows?

I'm not seeing this at all. Even without retina-style screen resolution, I find the Reason GUI elements to be too small on my 2009 13" MacBook Pro. I can't imagine how it looks on a retina MacBook. I tolerated it on my older 15" but the 13" is intolerable (for most things other than text editing and web surfing, really). I finally moved to an old 27" iMac and I've been much more productive in Logic but not in Reason, which still has too-small GUI elements and text labels.

You can zoom on Windows via the OS. Quite easily, I might add:

My opinion only:

If your DAW looks better, and is easier to work with, when your display is in portrait - that's a problem to me. Reason is amazing in portrait.

Aside from the discontent with the GUI of Reason, I have looked at, reflected upon and carefully considered this Update. While it has long been argued that the instruments in Reason were due an overhaul, I can't help but feel they have completely missed the boat doing so, so soon after VST implementation. I am certainly already well equipped with VERY good granular and wavetable synths, multiple effects suites and numerous sample and loop libraries and really not in need of these new offerings.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not out to crucify the Props here. They are to some extent trying to respond to user demands over the years, but to be perfectly honest, they have made an arse of themselves in the back to front way of implementation.

I'm thinking I can put my $129 to better use in the Black Friday sales, so sorry Props, I'll sit this one out and to be honest, Reason gets so seldom opened these days, I may not go any further in the future.

I think the main benefit will be to those who prefer the Reason workflow
in general. Much like any other DAW, native devices are going to perform
quite a lot better than VST. In this regard, I think Reason has a very nice
advantage compared to most DAWs. Infact, I can think of only a few that
can really even compete with it, in that area.

So if you're only mildly into Reason, sure the upgrade doesn't make as
much sense to you. However, if you are an avid fan of Reason, then VST will
mostly be viewed as supplemental, placing a higher value on native devices.

And as has been said, the Granular Implementation, is quite unique. To say
that you can counter it with other available VST based solutions, is simply
not true.

That said, I am in no hurry to upgrade, although I will before long, no doubt.
It depends on how long, I want to wait for a better deal than the $110 vendor
price.

I think we actually agree, the I don’t use Reason as the GUI is to small on my 32 inch monitor, I was speculating that the reason they made it that small was to fit the rack in to a 15 inch monitor window a decade ago....I used to use Reason then (before they added audio!) and it looked OK...

To chime in for no good reason... I'm impressed with Reason, and would really like to spend more time with it, but some of the stuff is just too tiny for my aged eyes and the only way to make it larger is by altering the display resolution which is not something anyone wants to deal with on a regular basis. Reason has been around long enough that I'd think some of the programmers might be of an age where they can see how this might be... Pun intended.

No, that's not the only way (as demonstrated above). You can do this via both Windows or OSX:



And in Windows, you can scale the apps via the "Scale and Layout" setting, which makes it perfectly usable on large monitors.

Okay, sorry to be obtuse, but where are the zoom function and the "Scale and Layout" option?
