Lets say I did buy it... I'd throw all the software but keep any drivers I might need. I'd wipe the system and install my own windows on it, and I'd steer clear of any "home entertainment" software that might get bundled with it.
Just judging by the specs... would you people recommend this laptop??
I currently have a 2600+XP desktop setup, but I'm thinking of flogging that and getting this laptop with a Audiophile USB.
Basically I'm asking if there is any known problems with HP laptops. I'm not experienced with laptops at all, so I don't even know what I'm looking for as such.
Any help is appreciated, because I would like to start uni with a laptop.
Would you recommend this laptop for audio work??

Take into account that I could probably disable the modem and network stuff in the bios - that shit isn't really important to me.

I don't think it is such a good deal. I'm sure there are better deals available. Check out Dabs. Some examples:
More power?
I'd save up another £200 and get something like this. Or a Centrino.

I have 650 odd in the bank right now. I'll be getting a student loan too... but y'know... I have to eat!! London is exactly cheap to live in either.
