I think with ostinato he mean what i suggest some time ago, that the phrase container do not random play and there can add a ostenuto sequence by order the phrases in phrase container. it can chord, chord progression or other.musicdevelopments wrote:Please explain. All I know is that ostinato is a repeating pattern, but repetition is possible (well, strongly suggested) in RapidComposer. So will you describe what you mean by ostinato generator? How it should work, what kind of pattern it should create...
Thank you!

this is what I think I'd like to see... You have it very very close already with the dyad's run generator. However, rather than only up and downward, include lateral, with intervals, and maybe an accent..
This link is the general idea, but, way more than really needed.
or something like this description, but, automated.. (edit: step 3 in the below link is the nail that holds it together)

OK, I am beginning to understand. So first create a simple pattern using 2 (interval) or 3 (chord) notes, then you modify that pattern by slightly changing a few notes preserving the shape, and you can also sound 2 notes together sometimes. Interesting! This is not that difficult.

Very nice to hear! Yea, the nth note being an interval of the key, up to, or below, and an octave up, or below. I am not sure how many notes maximum you could use, but the minimum should be 2 to be an ostinato. (even though technically, one note could be considered to be one)musicdevelopments wrote:OK, I am beginning to understand. If this new generator could also be used to create Alberti Bass patterns that would be Great. It may be that is already possible using the current generators , but I haven't found a straight forward way of doing it.

It would seem it could, based on the wiki definition..secondstep wrote:If this new generator could also be used to create Alberti Bass patterns that would be Great. It may be that is already possible using the current generators , but I haven't found a straight forward way of doing it.
"It was named after Domenico Alberti (1710–1740), who used it extensively, although he was not the first to use it. Alberti bass is a kind of broken chord or arpeggiated accompaniment, where the notes of the chord are presented in the order lowest, highest, middle, highest. This pattern is then repeated."

Just a note on the ostinato..
The length can be a minimum of one bar, but, it becomes "interesting" with 2 or more bars. The idea would be to allow the intervals after the n'th bar, then the repetition would start over.
see the attached example.. it is a 4 bar example..

Hello Attila!
I attached file where I have problems ...
Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
Thank you .
Dragging does not work from the browser's rhythm to the phrase.

Hi lulukom!
You are right, I did not realize that! When the track had transposition, the phrases and rhythm patterns were placed incorrectly. This is fixed now.
Thanks!

Yes, yellukhan, this optimization works best with phrases consisting of many notes.
If you have many small files of short phrases, it may not be much faster.
Thanks!

RapidComposer v3.4b5 is available!
This update features the new Ostinato phrase generator and two super useful variations, "Velocity Range" and "Drum Accents 8ths&16ths" as well as bug some fixes. Please try the Ostinato generator and send me feedback. This is just the first version, I am sure there will be changes before the final Ostinato Generator.
Improvements:

Please try the Ostinato generator and send me feedback. This is just the first version, I am sure there will be changes before the final Ostinato Generator.
Improvements:
- Ostinato Generator (experimental, feedback is welcome)
- New variation: "Velocity Range": assign velocities to downbeats, on and off beats, 8ths and 16ths with randomness (if needed)
- New variation: "Drum Accents 8ths&16ths": set 8th and 16th note accents, useful for percussion
- It is possible to use slashes in group and phrase names, e.g. "3/4"
- The browsers don't close folders unexpectedly when an item is renamed or removed
- Phrase and rhythm dragging fixed when transposition was applied to a track
- Fix bug introduced in v3.4b4: all MIDI controller values were 1
- When keyswitches are converted to note articulations, the length of the key-switch note is taken into account

Hello Attila!
Thanks for the beta!
If I'm wrong, correct me ...
I'm dragging a rhythm phrase from the rhythm browser to the phrase in the track, but the rhythm of the phrase on the track does not change (
What am I doing wrong ? Thank you.
