I was enjoying listening to every submission so far - so many interesting ideas and well crafted sounds 8) Good luck to everyone!

Here is my entry. Besides of music itself I put most of the time into replicating sounds of sax-like lead, piano, guitar and vocal. They're not ideal, of course, but I hope they sound close enough. I've used some waveforms from Zebralette factory and free U-he Patch Library.

Hi toonertik,
soundcloud only let's you update a track when you have a paid subscription. If you go in free mode, you have to create a second copy with the new music. You can provide a new URL to the first version (let's say you just add postfix "-old") and take over the original URL to your new version. Thus no links are broken...and just set the first one into private mode. Drawback is that comments and liks of any previous version will not be available in the latest...
Regarding quality: I upload flac files. flac is a good compromise between compression and quality. Quality wise it works better for me than uploading mp3, and better than 96.000k/32bit float wav in terms of size.

Here's my entry this month. After several months off it's nice to be back in OSC, although I had very limited time. The fun and relaxation provided by producing a piece for no purpose other than this competition is really special to me -- so, thanks BJ for keeping this going!

Zebralette is an awesome little synth - lots of fun to make sounds and tons of creative potential, even with it's limitations, or maybe because of it's limitations. Compositionally I let the sounds dictate the direction of the music, so this is very electronic, slightly disjointed but (I hope) distinctly Zebralette. I made no effort to emulate acoustic instruments -- Zebralette has so much of it's own character.

Enjoy!

Hello !
This is my entry !
My CPU can't go further, I just have to give up here after a few blind renderings. I have to admit my method is rather stacking/layering than crafting versatile presets of the synth. But I'm learning, and I've quicly read some of your debates here. As usual, mine of information :tu: .
I'm afraid I didn't exploit the "wavetable" principle at its best (special mention to the talking zebralette of peter :hyper: ), but I managed to have some fun here :phones: .
The thing that actually missed is a real "white noise" to give a random feeling for hats... And I still can't produce a cymbal ! I also tried making a piano like some of you earlier, but I'm still veeery far away. But listening to what some of you have done, I now believe it's possible :tu:

This is my first attempt to write something serious ever. I spent a whole lot of time on this track, but still it's not nearly enough and the result can hardly be called 'music'. As it turns out composition is difficult when you have no experience and no MIDI keyboard :)

Zebralette is weird by the way. At first it makes an impression of a very capable instrument, but then you quickly realise that almost any parameter combination gives you just another boring buzz. The sound design process is really unintuitive and the exploration of sound space is complicated. The lack of traditional filter parameters also hurts too much.

Thanx Peter.. I figured there had to be a way to update, paid mode only.. fair enough!

I did think about Flac but opted for wav.. if I get time to mix it properly I will use Flac..
BTW>> very very creative use of the wee Zebra you have there.. really made me smile and run for cover.. but you got me in the end rata tat tat)))

My song has been changed an unhealthy number times since the original, post updated with current FX.

Thanks to TrojakEW for the comments, drum track revamped and break added as a result, plus a few other minor additions and a faster tempo.

@løkken: love your track :tu:

Has anyone notified Urs about this ? Would be nice to hear from him in the thread.

Phew, thought I didn't have the time or inspiration to finish a track for this OSC, but I managed to throw something together. Something almost embarassingly cheesy. :D

I won't have time to polish it as much as I'd like, but I'll do as much as I can. Here's a very quick & dirty version, mostly just to have a complete arrangement to work with. Hopefully I'm able to work on some variations, all the sounds and the mix still...

Feedback is of course welcome even in this rough condition :)

Here is my submission. Never been a Zebra user, so it was definitely a struggle getting used to this synth. Zebralette definitely sounds good though.
