I replicated what I did with the instrument tracks using input transformer - looked at track 1 - it was receiving events on MIDI channel 1, and track 2 was receiving events on MIDI track 2.

However, when I look at what notes are being passed - the actual information recorded in the MIDI monitor is identical for both tracks.

That suggests to me that Reaktor is actually sending the same data on both MIDI channels after all despite seeing the MIDI out set to 2 different channels from the two MIDI out blocks.
That seems logical. You can put the midi monitor plugin on the instrument track by the way

hmm, not sure where I can go from here.

I could ask on the Reaktor forums given that it seems to be a Reaktor rather than Cubase issue.

If all else fails I build the sound generator synths into the ensemble but I would prefer to use own soft synth or hardware.

I'd almost forgotten what I'd hoped to achieve.

This is what I thought. The Reaktor Ensemble is sending a single stream of data (that is why I showed a depiction of an Ensemble with a single MIDI out). I guess you'll have to use two instances.

Ok almost positive you can have one ensemble send multicjannel

I don't know, I never tried it. I'm not having any luck with this, at any rate. My understanding is that the way out of Reaktor, to the outside world is via the Ensemble: Properties/Connect/External [to 'all' or 'plugin']/Channel, and I have yet to see anything other than a single discrete channel here (with a few 2-or-more sequencers in an Ensemble now).

So I am at the limit of guessing about it, I have to see it or I simply don't know. If the OP wants to sort this, I suggest a screenshot at least.

The thing that I worry about is, why would Kontakt take a stream of data that includes a supposed two channels into assigned channels 1 and 2 exactly the same? So something is truly not right here. My assumption is that if these are real channels both Cubase and Kontakt will know about it.

If that is a bad assumption WHAT IS REALITY? :help:

exactly, that doesn't make sense. I don't use Reaktor much, but I used to be a junky. I'm pretty sure you can set the module out on the comm adapter thing to be channelized. But, I haven't opened that panel in years.

No, I said I had got it to work with Kontakt previously.

Right now again I can't. I'll need to look at it again.

I think our point is that if you got it to work in Kontakt, it should work with the MIDI Input filters on multiple tracks in Cubase. I apologize, but I have been on the road for work for 2 weeks and I'm going to buried when/if I get home this weekend. But, as soon as I have a few minutes I'll see if I can find an old ensemble project I worked on and explore this a bit. I'm pretty sure it is doable.
