Thanks to TrojakEW for the comments, drum track revamped and break added as a result, plus a few other minor additions and a faster tempo.
Uff guys hope I'm not much a burden. It was just my opinion and it doesn't mean I'm right. It is I just feel it that way. Same goes for my other comments on all other tracks here. Dont take them too serious. Everyone have different view on everything and music is no exception. Rather wait for comments from more skilled guys here.JKF Flashico wrote: Hi again! Hello. This is my second time participating in One Synth Challenge. When making music, I usually use various samples, pitch them up/down, stretch, resample and manipulate them in almost every imaginable way, so it's no surprise that these one synth challenges are always a step outside my comfort zone. I had a limited amount of time, and I've never actually tried using Zebralette, so this OSC was an interesting experience.
The track is far from perfect and what I have imagined it to be in the end. Also, it has flaws here and there (like we all humans do
), the mix and mastering are almost certainly lousy (because I don't have monitors and use cheap headphones
) and whole arrangement could also be a bit better. Nevertheless, I won't change anything anymore and leave the track as is.
I hope that some of you will like it and I wish all of you good luck!

19 instances of u-he Zebralette. All sounds are modified presets: some are factory, others are from u-he's PatchLib and this thread (thank you guys).

2x TAL-Reverb-4

2x Musical Entropy Spaceship Delay
1x ReaDelay

1x Vladg/sound Limiter No.6

Yes, I have played around a lot to squeeze some samples into the wavetables.functionform wrote:As it gets closer to deadline, I'm finally feeling like I "get" this synth. It's insane. I totally got a one note hero thing going on right now that I wont use in my track, but I'm so glad I decided to get into this. I'll definitely be using Zebralette more after. Just gotta finish my track!
Did Peter import samples into Zebralette? That opening is crazy.
Watch this video: One guy says "Stukas" at around 10 seconds, s. . That is actually the source of the "Stukas" voice in my track. But it was really hard to squeeze it in. I ended up with actually 4 wavetables for the "syllables" "S", "Tu", "Ka", "S".
A bit of the background:
A Zebralette wavtable consists of 16 slots with 128 samples, giving you a total of 16 * 128 samples (more recent wavetable synths like tone2 icarus have 256 slots with 2048 samples each). Usually a slot contains, what you call "a single cycle of a waveform" (one square, or one sawtooth). You can for instance sample any of your favourite synths at I think the note was F3 at 44100 Hz to get a single cycle with 128 samples...I think you can do the maths on your own. If you repeat that single cycle over and over, it will play a note at a given pitch.
I went a different route with the samples. Combine the 16 slots with a Envelope that scans through all the slots in a linear fashion going from slot 1 to 16 AND using the right note, so that the content of each slot is only played once...So the slots that have been parts of a larger sample are now glued together again by this approach.
The other source sample "Angriff!" (= "Attack!" in english) was created by a text to speach programm balabolka and then processed a bit differently. I have computed a resampling ratio in order to get a size in sample that is a multiple of 16 * 128. I let wavosaur do the resampling and the just split up the resulting sample into 16 regions and exported them for use in just one wavetable.
All that wouldn't have been possible without the wave2zebra utility that I mentioned earlier in this thread.
There's clearly some limits to this and I wasn't able to squeeze any sample into it. For instance the sirene sound of a stuka was not recognizeable at all. Other samples I have used more succesfully were a synthesized basedrum, a china crash, a female voice "ahhh" and a snare...as this all came out a bit "dirty" the track got it's noisy feel...

Yes.. as I imagined... I tried to get the word "player" to WavTble but needed more time.. although some of the sounds I used were generated from wave2zebra.. I also tried a new tool called http://synthtech.com/waveedit, which spits out 64 frames/slots.. my idea was to try and compress then load to wav2zebra... not enough time to perfect BUT shows promise )))] Peter:H [ wrote: Yes, I have played around a lot to squeeze some samples into the wavetables.

BTW.. both the drunk conga and wasted bass player were just one instance of zebralette each.. it is an amazing wee synth

Just a quick note - I have updated my track
1.) I found some out-of-harmony notes that I have removed in the updated version (anybody noticed the track is in dorian?
2.) I finally figured out how I could use TDR Nova Dynamic EQ Feature with Sidechain input in Cubase: Quadtrack is the (dubios) solution.
---
And I have found the blog post again, which describes how to do "Ultra Depth", just in case you're interested: http://www.masteringtuition.com/index.php/secret-no-1
All of the required steps can be done with free plugins from MeldaProduction, primarily MUtility, s. https://www.meldaproduction.com/MUtility

[Updated Post With Track Details, Update Time: 8.27 PM, UTC-8]
[Update: 2, Soundcloud link updated.]
This is my entry for this month.
Track Name: Bageshri Meets IMDeePTree
DAW: FL Studio
No of Zebralette Instances: 26
FX:
External: Tessla SE, Span, Limiter No6, RescueMK2, TAL Reverb 4
Internal: Fruity Parametric EQ 2, Fruity Limiter, Soundgoodizer, Fruity Blood Overdrive, Fruity Compressor, Fruity Delay 2, Fruity Multiband Compressor, Fruity Delay, Fruity Fast Dist, Fruity Reeverb 2
Lots of Automation is used.
This track is based on/inspired from Indian Raga Bageshri (without experimentation with tuning this time; with normal Western12 Equal Temperament tuning, so it will sound familier.)
A progressive, dark, melodic (dance?) music, repetitive techno-ish with trance-y bassline track.
Some sounds designed from scratch and some are from u-he website (and modified according to requirement).
Enjoy.
https://soundcloud.com/dee-p-tree/bages ... mdeeptree/
Thank you all and best of luck.
