While I think the second place idea is good, will instead think of all of the companies that donated their products for this great cause throughout the year. The ones where I finished second, are on my list for purchases this holiday season. Hopefully these purchased will thank and encourage developers to donate again next year. Thanks again!

I received that message as well. Those words appeared at the end of the transaction. However, when I went into my PayPal account and pulled up the transaction it said: "Your recipient should have the money by April 2018." A few different words shedding light on the mystery and the plot thickens.paulevs wrote:Did anyone else's PayPal say funds will be available April 2018? I hope this was done by design.

+1 ...most of the time in this yearly auction I go for stuff I probably would not buy anyway. This year it was Studio One and Reason 10. I already have FL Studio and Bitwig. I don't really need another DAW but it's fun to explore new things. The only thing I bid on that I actually planned to buy anyway was NI Komplete, but I let the bid go to another guy. The day before yesterday I headed over to NI and bought Komplete directly from them.Drogers wrote:While I think the second place idea is good, will instead think of all of the companies that donated their products for this great cause throughout the year. This auction also highlight developers and items I really didn't know about before so in that sense it's a win for the developers to join in. Most importantly this generate some serious money for kids who urgently need it. A lot of thanks and credit to all those generous developers who been contributing.
Win 10 -64bit, CPU i7-7700K, 32Gb, Focusrite 2i2, FL-studio 20, Studio One 4, Reason 10

I think that a second place may encourage some people not to bid, and come in second. Also I agree that those companies should be rewarded for their participation. I found a few things that I have on a list for the future, and will buy their products. So personally. I like the process the way it is,, even when I lose (which I have... and haven't we all).Drogers wrote:While I think the second place idea is good, will instead think of all of the companies that donated their products for this great cause throughout the year. I see that message about April 2018 too.
I'm glad I didn't win the Elements and it was raised to a good price -- and I wish I had competed on a Dreadbox case. I just found out that the SynthTech E370 beta unit I had tested is coming back to me to stay, and now between the Bastl modules, Koma Field Kit FX and E370 I have 105HP of modules to fit into 11HP of available space. Time to go case shopping

Every year this is true for me. Two of the products I bid on are from developers I did not know about. One of which I won. Every year I seem to find new things I had not heard of before. I tell others about them and keep them on my watchlist.ATN69 wrote:This auction also highlight developers and items I really didn't know about before so in that sense it's a win for the developers to join in.
I couldn't help but laugh when I read this and looked over at your location and read "from a state of confusion". Your location was very appropriate.VitaminD wrote:each time I get an Exclamation mark graphic and a 'if you continue to encounter problems contact customer support' hmmmm...

Ignoring the condescending tone of you response, here's the way I see it:koshdukai wrote:Unfortunately, these auctions don't use the "Last In First Out" which those that didn't read carefully the 1st page may expect.EdSevered wrote:I don't understand how my bid of $65 for the Groove3 pass, got bumped. I went to $65 before the next two $65 bids, and they won. it doesn't make sense to me....so, for convenience, "First In First Out" ends up being used :/Luftrum wrote:I will always replace the lowest bid with a higher one placed, so you do not need to specify the # to be replaced. When I stumble upon two equal bids in a product group, I will replace starting from the top going down.
Anyone bidding here is expected to read the 1st page with the rules.
Groove3
Website: https://www.groove3.com/
Donating: Donating 5 x One Year All Access Passes.
One Year All Access Pass #1. High bidder: c-wave $65 - placed 10/31 @ 5:59 pm
One Year All Access Pass #2. High bidder: trotamusicos $70 - placed 10/31 @ 5:58 pm
One Year All Access Pass #3. High bidder: TerraSin $65 - placed 10/31 @ 5:53 pm
One Year All Access Pass #4. High bidder: pekadan $65 - placed 10/31 @ 3:59 pm
One Year All Access Pass #5. High bidder: meRichie $70 - placed 10/29 @ 5:12 pm
Now fitting the bid pattern to the rule above:
Bids 4 & 5 were safe; they were in the bottom two positions and equal to, or greater than, $65
My $65 bid was placed next on 10/31 @ 5:39 pm and therefore should've been put into spots 1, 2 or 3. I believe, but obviously can't prove, that my bid was placed in slot #2.
The next bid would've been TerraSin's bid of $65, also eligible for slots 1, 2 or 3. So now two slots should be at $65, mine and TerraSin's, and the third was likely $60 or less.
Next came trotamusicos $70 bid, which could displace one of the bids in slots 1, 2, or 3.
- If it replaced the $60 bid in slot 2, which makes the most sense to maximize the amount acquired for the cause, then there would be 3 $65 bids (one of which would be mine) and two $70 bids in place. This would make c-waves later bid of $65 too low to qualify.
- But according to the rule you referenced, if there are like bids, such as trotamusicos $70 bid matching that of meRichie, it should've displaced slot #1, at the top, which as you can see, it did not. If slot #1 was $60, same outcome as above. If slot #1 was $65, possibly my bid, then that would leave one $60 bid and one $65. Then c-waves $65 bid should displace the $60 bid. But trotamusicos bid is not in slot 1.
So, I still don't understand how my bid got bumped.

You obviously want to see the money go to use right way, but ultimately not really worried about the process. This is for the charity to sort out with PayPal. I would hope and assume it's going to a capable organization that can appropriately manage the situation.o0Ampy0o wrote:I received that message as well. We all have done our part and I'm sure it'll work work out. Again, a huge thank you to the organizers and all the developers who graciously donated for the cause.

To avoid this, the second place has to atleast match the highest bidrockhopper wrote:I think that a second place may encourage some people not to bid, and come in second. Same here. I'm not sure but think I've bid on Microtonic (the bundle from Sonic Charge) the third time since 2015 or 14. Never won it. But won't buy it either as I have too many drum machines already. But with this perfect GAS excuse of the auction...ATN69 wrote:... I go for stuff I probably would not buy anyway.
Actually, I can't recall if I ever bid for /won something I would have bought anyway. *scratches head*

I received one saying the funds would be available Nov 6th. The troubling thing is that after 5hrs I still haven’t gotten a receipt despite it showing up in my paypal history.o0Ampy0o wrote:I received that message as well. I imagine you checked your spam folder? They have probably been inundated with activity. Did you happen to do a screen capture or print the information at any point during the transaction? Although I am pretty confident that everything is lined up properly, the name of this entity/organization we pay to does not look like a charity and I am also cautious about the concept of sending money to people through PayPal so I took precautions and printed the page with the transaction described. You could contact them and ask for a receipt. But PayPal at least shows the transaction.TheBayer wrote:The troubling thing is that after 5hrs I still haven’t gotten a receipt despite it showing up in my paypal history.
Funny (to me at least) regarding PayPal and sending money as opposed to purchasing goods from a merchant, I once purchased software from a private party in Europe while I am in North America. At one point we both had to do a "hail Mary" and trust that our exchange would be legitimate or else we would just have to abandon the idea. It turned out well. I received the activation codes and serial number and he received my money. But we were both tensely holding the knob to the exit door at the very last second.
