Effects "in your DAW or free" - what does this mean, e.g. if I have the Live standard, I have bunch of DAW presets, but if I have the Suite, much more, the Suite is not free effects are "inside the DAW".
You are allowed to use whatever FX (within the types allowed) that comes included with the version of the DAW you have.
For example I use Reaper. It comes with a few effect plugins. One is ReaDelay. I can use ReaDelay as long as I don't use the reversing function on it (because that involves a type of sampling which is not allowed).
But there are FX included in Reaper that I can't use such as Chorus, ReaPitch etc because the main function of the FX is against the rules.
Another example. Taron uses MuLab, so Taron can use MUX which MuLab is built around.
I use Reaper, so while I could buy MUX and use it in Reaper just fine, I am not allowed to use MUX in Reaper for this contest because it did not come with Reaper. I would have to use MuLab to get MUX.
So if you have Live Standard you would only be allowed to use what comes with standard. If someone else uses Suite then what is in Suite would be allowed for that person to use (within the general rules of what type of FX is allowed).
Harry_HH wrote: How about not free 3rd party effects, other than listed.
If it is not free, it is not allowed (usually, though there have been exception months this month is not the rare exception month).

Simple way to think about it all: Outside of what you spend on your DAW all other software must be both free and still available to all contestants. Something that was free last month but is now requiring payment cannot be used this month.
For example I have an audio device that often gives out free versions of software to owners of the device. While the software is free to me, it would not be free to everyone (because they don't all own the audio device) so it would not be allowed.

Yes, instructions were given on how to get a special (most likely time limited key) so that the demo version can be used without the demo noise at the very beginning of the thread.
Win10 x64, Reaper 6.XX x64, i5-3330, 8gb ram, GTX-970, UC-33, Panorama P4, Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 and JVC HA-RX700

If you think about buying a wavetable synth, I would kindly recommend to take a look at...
  1. tone2 icarus https://www.tone2.com/icarus.html, or
  2. parawave rapid https://parawave-audio.com/index.php, or
  3. vps avenger http://www.vengeance-sound.com/plugins.php (the ultimate beast)
The last one is the *really* sick "version of Thorn...
Hope I don't get band for dropping these names...all German Companies ;-)

On my side it is the same with the time constraint...to many hours spent fiddling with "interesting" synths in OSC, though there's an aramda of stuff on my hard drive yet unexplored...But every hour is well spent, because the worse the synth the more I spend on mixing techniques to get decent sound.
But I think for his round I probably can make use of the capable wavetable editor of icarus with it's amazing sample resynthesis capabilities...he he he...that's gone be even more fun than just force zebralette to say "Stukas"

And you wavetable gurus probably know there's a collection of around 4.000 single cycle wave forms of a guy called Adventure Kid
https://www.adventurekid.se/akrt/waveforms/
A really huge collection of single cycles with length of 600 samples each.

Where do I said that? Im just not going to use trial and spent my time learning it only for limited time use. If you like it then buy it .No problem here but I know I will not buy it so there is no point for me to even try it and waste time installing it.

I understand that and I agree. Thats what I do too.

Also...I wonder how long it will take until someone wises up and sees that the NOISE section in Thorn actually allows for samples to be loaded, hahahahaha.... hoping it goes without saying that people don't use that as the wrong invitation to actually use samples. :ud:
Why bother comment if you won't bother answer?
Get over yourself, Harry, look at the amount of lines!
This was mostly about the synth's "sample" feature.

With that amount of lines you could have said something constructive.

I actually do have Avenger, but the CPU is a bit high, the expansions are expensive, and its just too damn complex for us weekend warriors .. looking for something a bit simpler.
