hi
i'm wondering if i should buy nuendo and do all my stuff with video and music in it
or buy cubase and premiere , which is in terms of money , the same , but premiere will have much more possibilites than nuendo with the video
what do you say?

Well, the differences between Nuendo vs Cubase is located in post-production, for professionals who actually need specific features. If this isn't you, Premiere.

ok but i didn't check all the video features in nuendo vs premiere.
since nuendo is mostly for the music , i guess premiere kills nuendo when it comes to video..
thanks mate

video in Cubase/Nuendo is tenuous now. You are primarily just using it to provide marker reference while composing/cueing etc.. It's still much better to import the resulting audio into another program for rendering the final video+audio
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

We keep fighting for it in Cubase, but the one huge feature that is in Nuendo for video is Edit Mode (video scrub/alignment mode)

Yeah, no, Nuendo supports working with video but it isn't a video creation or video workstation application. You can't actually edit video in it, for instance. It has *different* support for video than Cubase, arguably better, or *more* support.

*video in Cubase/Nuendo is tenuous now
are you sure? because the price says otherwise..
of course it's better to make everything in the same software, but for example when i need to make transitions , i have a huge lot of plugins in premiere , that are not in nuendo , same thing with the video effects , and not mentionning the fact that you can work with premiere and after effects ( which host also other 3d programms in it) .
having said that , i think that i'm gonna buy nuendo , even if it's very expensive , but i feel a lot better with this programm vs cubase..

The way I work is I export a video with audio in Final Cut Pro X and 'Replace Audio in Video' in Cubase. Which they completely broke for 9.0.3. I replace the audio with a 24-bit file so Youtube is compressing that rather than compress an already compressed audio file. And it means I can use Youtube as a host for my 24-bit audio files.SJ_Digriz wrote:video in Cubase/Nuendo is tenuous now. So as to 'it's much better' to work in the video app, there is no other way to make your final 2-file part of your video if you have to have 9.0.3. I don't know why it will have been better before or why it's tenuous in your view. Editing audio in FCPX is awkward at best.
edit, PS: You *can* export a video in FCPX with PCM audio in theory but it always failed here.
Youtube recommends the H.264 video contain AAC audio but I don't comply.

I highly recommend having a look at Blackmagic DaVincy Resolve.
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/produc ... ciresolve/
The basic version is free and can do a lot already, the full version is quite affordable too, now they lowered the prices.
In version 14 they added a whole audio production suite from Fairlight.
It is very fast as an editor, uses the GPU very efficiently and overall is quite a slick and deep software that used to cost a huge lot more (originally it was mainly known for colour grading for movies).
They also offer Fusion 9 with the same model if you want to dig deeper into compositing.
Premiere is pretty much crap as long as it exists and now is bound to Adobe CC, the worst kind of subscription anybody has come up with yet.
Cheers,
Tom

For rock solid video and audio work I've used Vegas for years. I'm not sure from your posts whether you want to be able to compose using vsti's or just do video editing and audio mixing and post, but judging from the options you're looking at it seems audio mixing is your main priority. Vegas is great for this. it has a very (very) Reaper-like workflow, just without all the confusion in the menus.
If you want DAW-like midi and vsti's it's best to look elsewhere.

i used to work with vegas , but i switch to premiere because it works with after effects , there is an option in premiere and ae to do that.
and man when you work with these two softs , it's sooooo great , you can do almost anything you want with ae and premiere : vfx, color correction , you name it.
and in the end your videos are sooo great .
fact is , i never worked with da vinci , and it seems like a huge soft , like you have to work a lot before you can do something with it , tutorials , tutorials .
for now i'm just a little video maker , i make some videos , i post them on youtube , but i don't plan to be steven spielberg( btw i don't know what soft he uses.. )

To do the music part to video is one thing - and to do video editing another.
For video editing - look at Cyberlink PowerDirector - which I find incredible.
I tested Nero Video, also cool, but not quite there. At least have dual monitor support for preview.
Premier Elements I ran also, but feel more tedious and heavier in system - and have no preview on second monitor.
For music score - Cubase/Nuendo - the new video engine that says to be independent of Apple Quicktime is really both horrible in performance and drastically reduced in features - like writing audio back into video. Also Windows 7 cannot extract existing audio from video at all. I consider this attempt a joke altogether.
As an example I tried video engine and ran a clip from one camera - and got 36% cpu on my i7 2.8 GHz Windows 7 machine. Running a VST plugin VidPlayVst - in Cubase too - I got around 12-15% cpu with the same clip. So efficiency of new Steinberg video engine is really bad.
But to run video as VST:
http://vidplayvst.com
and you can run video in any daw. You don't get thumbnails - but if you can live without that really good choice. I Just do markers on scenes for video and you navigate just fine, at least works for me. And you can undock and put on second monitor as you please - fullscreen or not.
So I just do audio track for music in daw - and then assemble to video in PowerDirector.
