We are seriously excited to be able to announce this one :D

A while ago we brought the entire Emulator II UOS library to Kontakt. It was an enormous project, but worth it: Sound on Sound called it "invaluable", Future Music called it "brilliantly retro", and Computer Music said "sampled soundbanks don't get much more classic than this". If this is news to you, you might want to take a look here: http://www.rhythmicrobot.com/product/em ... unds-vol-1.

Since then we've been talking to the lovely people at Syntaur, who own the license to distribute the original Mirage factory soundset; and the project is now officially a "go". We're already deep into the sampling: as with the EII, we're sampling every single note of every single patch, chromatically, often with multiple velocity layers to capture the Mirage's filter in action. There's a fair way to go yet, but we also have a UI to show you:

If you'd like to be kept posted on this, simply drop by the site and "buy" one of our freeware instruments (here's the link: http://www.rhythmicrobot.com/free-stuff) and we'll stick you on the mailing list and let you know when the Mirage soundset is available. We're thinking early next year, but it may – just – be sooner than that... :o

Final thing: the jury's still out on the inclusion of the palm tree on the interface. Let us know your thoughts. With palm tree? Without palm tree? Don't care? We need to know :D

Happy music making,

The Professor (and Mongo)

Ooh gonna keep an eye on this. BTW, I think camel silhouette is available...
You need to limit that rez, bro.

I like the tree. :)
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Awesome! I almost bought a Mirage when they first came out, but ultimately waited and got an Emax instead. Still love that crunchy Mirage sound (Jam & Lewis, anyone?) and can’t wait to hear what you come up with!
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

The Mirage can sound wonderful, but the two-character hexadecimal programming interface is, uh... an acquired taste, to say the least... It's really amazing what the factory soundset manages to accomplish within the limitations of the instrument. I have to say this is proving a really fun one to work on :D
