The I promise I will not buy more gear-thread (HaRd MoDe 2017)

I haven't done badly this year, notwithstanding my AKG mic in January, and Synthmaster in the summer. Still, didn't make it according to the terms of this thread.
This is the first year in 10 that I haven't bought a new guitar. So, that is something. I occasionally want a 'cheap' 12 string, perhaps a Sigma, but I have a €2,500 Lakewood 12'er. Hard to justify.

Haven't bought a thing. I have been busy learning what I have and improving my music skills.
I have it easy though, because I am quite happy with my setup.

I could join you with the field recorder. Mine was fine for my uses, but it broke this year, and I've already used my wildcard. Also, one of my keyboards broke (the one that I use every day). It's been a serious inconvenience, and has become the real test, this last couple of months. Kinda busy with other stuff, so I think I can hold out till next yearMichael L wrote:Lots!el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:Had any temptations?
1) a better field recorder
2) 4 specialized microphones
3) orchestral library
4) multiband fx host
5) A/B comparison utility
One will be my wildcard. Not sure yet.
I will eventually get most of them but after I complete my much longer to-do list!

I could 'see' getting the mic, but Synthmaster goes on sale every other Friday. Was quite surprised you shot your load for thatBombadil wrote:I haven't done badly this year, notwithstanding my AKG mic in January, and Synthmaster in the summer. Haha! There's a world of hurt between "quite happy", and 'Done!'Muied Lumens wrote:Haven't bought a thing. I have been busy learning what I have and improving my music skills.

Well, the mic was planned before I tried to commit to this. Synthmaster, well... yeah. I really don't pay lots of attention to the adverts on the side, nor have I been here long enough to realize the frequency of their sales. All I saw was DEAL! VOTED BEST SYNTH!! I hemmed and hawed about it for a while, then did the deed. €79 for 2 synths.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:I could 'see' getting the mic, but Synthmaster goes on sale every other Friday. I basically went for it out of boredom and the fact that I can't have the €2,700 Martin D-18 that I'd really want. Not if I wanted to stay married....
In other news, I just passed the 11 month mark for not buying new guitars. On December 2, I get my one-year cake...

Well, I for one have already failed miserably. I think I need to check myself into Audio Software Addicts Anonymous. I guess there's always next year

Well, I got my one wildcard (Versilian Orchestra) BEFORE Black Friday and White Christmas. But I feel strong!Muied Lumens wrote:Just one more thing, and I will be complete, I promise.

Neither have I, but did carefully demo a few. I evaluate each demo based on whether 'its way' of creating music feels like 'my way' and if I want to trade time using my current setup for time learning that new program. So far, I most enjoy spending time with my current setup.Chapelle wrote:The craziest time of the year has started. How is everyone doing?
I had quite a few temptations already, but haven't bought a thing, yet.
