Downloaded demo, and Cool looking plugin, but sound-wise, it is just ok-ish plugin for me.
The master mode of SKnote Soundbrigade gives me better result. it tames resonance dynamically, not statically.
Maybe I'll buy this because of its price, though.
Just my 2 cents.

Apart from Smart:EQ, frei:raum also includes Proximity:EQ and Entropy:EQ.
As for copy protection, Sonible uses serial activation but they’re adding optional iLok.

THis is what blows me away about frei:raum: the Entropy EQ. put a bright drum loop through it. then just bring the amount of Entropy up and down using the knob at the bottom in the Entropy section. Towards the top you hear more of the inharmonic transients, and to the bottom the sustain. its basically a multi-band transient processor but it sounds great, unique. Same with the Proximity although this is more effective on sounds that have a lot of lower level sustain audio. This could be reverb, but also string vibrations, the tail of synth sounds, background noise, etc. It tries to filter out the lower-level audio/noise and separate it from top to bottom. Again also multi-band. But with a really nice sound to it - smooth. The Smart EQ is a very nice sounding linear phase eq with what I think is a really nice UI. And the Smart mode saved my ass on the mix I posted below. I was sold when it came out, but $350US was a bit too much. $60? Amazing.

Tried demoing this, but it's adding a weird clicky noise even on bypass in Bitwig :/

Holy f**k this plugin really is magic! Instantly improves mixes like nothing I've come across before.

You need to set your buffer to 1024 at least, only in Bitwig do I get this. Probably due to high latency in the plugin.ilmai wrote:Tried demoing this, but it's adding a weird clicky noise even on bypass in Bitwig :/

Seems a bit awkward to use, since I don’t want to use a buffer that big when recording etc. I think I’ll pass.woodsdenis wrote:You need to set your buffer to 1024 at least, only in Bitwig do I get this. Probably due to high latency in the plugin.

Check the Comparison table. Confirmed there.Photo_G wrote:I can't find any references to a v2 release on their site, but I'd also like more info. I'd be in if it included the smart speech part of EQ+

Thanks Fleer, but the table at: http://www.sonible.com/freiraum/ doesn't have a reference to v2. Where are you seeing this?

Well, well. Two days ago it said “coming soon in v2” for speech mode in frei:raum. I guess the “soon” isn’t going to be as soon as they hoped. For me speech mode wouldn’t be useful, but if you want it, best to write them and ask. Their reply takes a day or two max.
