hmmm not very good... then you have no factory library installed and all future presets give missing samples, missing wavetables, missing etc... errors.goleat wrote:Ine way to reduce the size is by downloading another smaller library and then replacingChris-S wrote: EDIT2: content file 4 gigs. wowowoowow.....
the "Unique identifier for the expansion".
For that, open the included file ".info" with any editor and change "UID=some-numbers" into "UID=763165" (That's the UID from the factory library).
You'll find that file in "C:\ProgramData\Vengeance\VPS Avenger\expansions\(Expansion xxx).avxp\.info".
Now save it, delete the original factory library and run Avenger. That's it.
Just downloaded 60GB for 1 game on steam. THIS is much

4 GB is nothing these days. Do people seriously have issues with a few gigs?

if it is 4gb you probably not gonna need, then yes. as i downloaded the demo the first time i got shocked. ok back then the download was also a desaster but it was also way to much. i don't need the drums, i don't need the samples, i don't need most of the presets or wavetables and so on. and another point is, still there are people that have no ideal internet connection via some sticks or just a slow connection.EnochLight wrote:4 GB is nothing these days. an answer i often read regards the ui size in this thread is "4k is nothing these days, buy it, you'll need it anyways someday". i think something like that isn't very helpful since this argumentation probably fits into your world, but not into the user's one who ran into such problems. similar to the problematically cpu consumption: "just buy a better processor" or "don't use mac then". or the question of copy protection: "do people seriously have a issues with a tiny stick on a usb port?".
sorry but i got the feeling that sometimes the problems and bugs often got belittled instead of listenening to what these (potential) customers are saying.

I agree here, the developers should listen more to a broad public, and optimise for basic levels. But still, this is a monster Synth, made for state of the art music.frizzbee wrote:if it is 4gb you probably not gonna need, then yes. as i downloaded the demo the first time i got shocked. ok back then the download was also a desaster but it was also way to much. i don't need the drums, i don't need the samples, i don't need most of the presets or wavetables and so on. and another point is, still there are people that have no ideal internet connection via some sticks or just a slow connection.EnochLight wrote:4 GB is nothing these days. So computers and users will adapt.
True, lots of parts of the world, users are not ready for this. That's the lesson for the developers. Listen to the wide public and make this Synth a commercial success.
On the other hand, they give the potential to the users, you can create what you want if you know how to handle the Synth and its powers
So this is not a beginners tool.
Be aware of it.

ok, so then its a "yes". Because you NEED the 4gb factory content to use Avenger. Otherwise its naked. What can you do with for example the wavetable synthesis without any wavetables. I do not think, anyone who want to try the demo wants to bother, creating own wavetables first (creating "smooth" wavetables is not easy at all).if it is 4gb you probably not gonna need, then yes
We will not limit the "demoversion" content to 1GB or something like that. We want that you can explore the real thing, not a "trimmed down to its minimum" thing. If someone has a very slow internet connection, then I am sorry for him, but this is required for downloading. Either this or patience. Everyone has the possibility to download it somehow (fast computer from a friend, family etc) if he really WANTS it. If not, well then not.
No its not a lesson. Do you really think, we dont know? Theres probabbly 25% worldwide who cant use it, because of old hardware. Yes we knew that but still developed it the way it is, because we did not want to make compromises in sound. There is not much more left to "optimize" in the code without cutting something down (eco version with aliasing, no FFT, no realtime GUI etc...) - we currently have no plans to do this.True, lots of parts of the world, users are not ready for this. It sounds to me like you don’t need Avenger, not that you don’t need the content. As Manuel says, the Wavetables are part of the content. The oft-criticised “high cpu” is usually referring to complex synthesis, which is high on any synth. Of course there are many synths with lower CPU and just a few mb, but they won’t be like for like with Avenger.frizzbee wrote: if it is 4gb you probably not gonna need, then yes. as i downloaded the demo the first time i got shocked. ok back then the download was also a desaster but it was also way to much. i don't need the drums, i don't need the samples, i don't need most of the presets or wavetables and so on. and another point is, still there are people that have no ideal internet connection via some sticks or just a slow connection.

Avenger is a package deal, that’s how i’ve always seen it since day one. It has sample content, granular, drums etc. If you don’t value that kind of checklist, just buy a different synth that won’t make you grumpy rather than wishing Avenger was something that it isn’t.

Every product is a lesson to the builder, you build it you learn. In that way, maybe a quality draft/good/best modus could shush that 25% ?
Freeze real-time gui, lower down sampling rate etc...
Sorry I'm just thinking about your sales and popularity of your product Manuel
Could also benefit multi instances?

I suppose my point is this: the market that virtual instrument plugins are aimed it tend to have access to broadband Internet speeds. Owning a computer fast enough for a DAW and having broadband Internet access is a 1st world luxury; this is a premium priced plugin, and terabyte size drives are pretty much the norm these days.
Having a 4GB content library certainly seems normal, IMHO.

No, but was a bit surprised as I didn't know that Avenger is that heavily sample-based.EnochLight wrote:4 GB is nothing these days. Do people seriously have issues with a few gigs?![]()
