Agreed and having the delete module buttons as part of the Move function makes it too easy to lose a module when moving things around.spektralisk wrote: Modular is pretty awesome.... I reported that they should really improve the way the modules are moved and added to the rack. I suggested it should be the same as in VCVRack - you just grab module by clicking on background and then drag (I'm not sure why the added the intermediate step of clicking on "Move" button - makes no sense and kills workflow).
Softube Modular - is it OK?

How is it, can you resize the window now? And can you save presets, or is that still not possible?

You can't resize the window, but there are option in Setup for
( ) Always use smaller GUI
( ) Use medium GUI on large screens
Not quite sure what those do, I have retina macbook pro and a desktop 2560 × 1440 (or so) monitor and looks fine on both.
I don't mind that the arranging and adding of modules feels a bit fiddly, because the plugin sounds so amazing.
Here's a buchla -> smr -> korgasmatron with a couple of LFO's going by itself:

Some plugin tube saturation added and Eventide Blackhole.

Thanks for the info. I just got a new demo license; I hardly used it the first time as I was so put off by the interface I deleted the plugin right away. If only they'd upgrade it and give it a proper interface with high definition graphics, resizable window, etc.

Just got the System72, and while I‘m not too excited by the whole (TheLegend is way more flexible), the individual modules in Modular sound awesome. Of all thre major contenders, I like Modular best. It has the worst usability, but the sound is huge.

Only thing holding me back on getting more into Softube Modular and buying some of those 3rd party modules is price. If a person were to buy all 13 modules right now on sale it would be over $450, and $650 when not on sale. Compared to VCV Rack where everything is either free or pretty cheap. It's a hard choice to step into it.
Especially given it's been out 4 years and the new modules just trickle out so slowly. But recent tweets hint at some good stuff coming. So we will see. I'd die for more Mutable Instruments stuff, and anything from Make Noise.

For that price you could buy some basic building blocks as real hardware..

The Modular sounds excellent. But the GUI is not optimal, e.g. you often have to move other modules if you want to add a new module.
Even polyphony works (4x) but then it gets confusing very quickly because there is no grouping function.
It's fun to play with it but I wouldn't use it for my music, because I don't see any real advantage to "hardwired" synths. Ok, you could build a 4x polyphonic Model 72

I like the sound but find it fiddly to work with compared to say Voltage Modular - particularly hate the approach to connecting cables and building generally

Its a PITA, Softube dropped the ball and can't seem to lick it back up.
They created a great concept that everyone (other modular/ Eureorack style emulation plugins devs) except them has grabbed, done better and ran with.
Voltage Modular demonstrates how it should be done.
Functional, ergonomic and a shed load of affordable modules with development guided by users.
Softube just don't listen, the preset management system even though added years later is a case in point, its barely functional by today's standards.
