A band, travelling, 4 members, how much is needed to break even/make a living
There is lots to think about Transportation, Accommodation, Salaries, all that, for the band
Then there is the road crew, managers.
Preparations and afterwork
I see the Stranglers are charging on average €50 for tickets at a venue that holds about 1000 punters in Paris, later in November .
That show is close to being sold out. Half a million Euros is a bit, but the venue will take their cut, so is very lucrative in the end, all expenses taken care of?
How much do you need to break even tourning?

I dunno, but the Ed Sheeran model would probably be the best. Himself and a looper. He plays hockey arenas with that setup. Must make a mint.

It's a simple matter of calculating the budget 
Do you ask this because:
a) you are planning to get on the road and have no idea what to charge?
b) you think €50 per ticket for seeing The Stranglers is a bit steep?
Past year I have seen a very big quality circus (hardly any venue costs, just personnel) and that costed €60. I know that they won't get much profit of that and have to live a whole year of what they can scrape together in two months.
Last week I saw a ballet (like 50 dancers and as many people in the orchestra) and that costed €70. Also it's mainly the people you pay for. Hard working and highly skilled people and I earn much more as a computer programmer than they do.
Just checked some ticket prices for some local pop concerts here (didn't do that for a while) and these tend to be in the 35-40 region for Big Name acts. So yes, I'd agree €50 would give them quite some margin. But it's The Stranglers! I'd guess they have a pension plan to pay for while they still can
