I would think that those kinds of distinctions would sort themselves out in the nomination and voting processes. I'm pretty sure that freebies for a limited audience would just get fewer votes. Still if too many people think that it should be a distinct category, we could add that. I think that it's too early at this point to get too pedantic, KVR gets pretty busy over the Black Friday weekend and there will be a LOT of freebies and deals coming in.yellowmix wrote:For the free stuff, does it have to be free to everyone, or do freebies to existing customers count too?

Darkies is a negative expression that people use in my country. Blackies is not too far from it. I get that the title of this thread and the 'competition' is meant as a friendly term for Black Friday sales but sometimes words can seem a little ''off''. I guess I got ''triggered''.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Where I grew up, blackies was definitely a racist insult so, yeah, some people will have something against the term. But, hey, don't want to piss on your (I'm guessing) white privilege, god forbid we just have a little respect for each other.AnX wrote:Make me feel better? You're the one who played the racist card. Anyway, back to the BLACKIES 2017....

It's not 'PCness' just to point out a phrase has racist connotations to some people and maybe a more inclusive term would serve the (pretty cool) idea better. I guess I should know by now how easily some people are triggered when you suggest taking a word away from them. Censorship! Mountains out of molehills indeed...AnX wrote:Clearly ghetto wasnt talking about black ppl (who are not black anyway) so maybe the pc crowd need to calm the f**k down and stop making mountains out of molehills.

Perhaps if you use it in context instead of twisty its meaning to suit your nanny state outlook, there wouldnt be a problem.

"nanny state". LOL. Whatever, my last post outlined my position so I'm dropping this before you embarrass yourself with 'SJW' or 'Libtard'.

If the op had no racist intentions then it isn't racist - it's as simple as that. If you see racism where there isn't any I'm afraid that's called projection and it may well reveal more about yourself than anything else. The only person being 'triggered' in a situation such as this is the one who sees something that isn't there and calls 'it' out. You have things in reverse.GaryG wrote:It's not 'PCness' just to point out a phrase has racist connotations to some people and maybe a more inclusive term would serve the (pretty cool) idea better. Sure op meant no harm but I read the title and thought WTF.
There's a toothpaste where I live called Darlie with a picture of a smiling black man on the front. Used to have one different letter in the name... PC gone mad? Nope, people just realized the previous name was f**king racist.
