You see anybody bragging? I said nothing about my system. Actually it feels as if the teens have just discovered this thread. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say you're 18. Taron wrote:I'm just waiting for the day, when absolutely everybody has GPUs that can be used for more expensive computations. Too bad especially musicians tend to rely on their old hardware in fear of losing what they were creating before, I suppose, or because they are poor musicians, hahaha, which seems understandable to me....anyway, one day.
It's not necessarily how you instruct the CPU, but conceptual choices or possibilities that can lead to leaps in improvement. You could strip down all your computations to the fastest possible code, if the concept causes the trouble, there ain't no help. There are however certain compiler instructions that help with denormals, making that part much easier. And then there is the careful consideration, which operations can be done in the parameter setting portion, rather than in the processing routines. This can shave off a whole lot of time!
Somethings may have to be trade-offs, but others actually are not, but it may take some rethinking.
Then, today, memory access is often slower than actual computation, as well as having CPU buffers in mind, of course. So much to learn.
I am sure many musicians cannot afford to upgrade their processor. But what gets me is those that spend thousands on software but still use a 10 year old processor.

So what is this? Condescending Day or something like backseat-driver parade?
Everybody explaining to Dmitry how to do his job properly?
"Work ethics"? Really?
I personally am VERY happy that synths like Diversion, Diva, Repro1 etc. exist and they do things for my ears that the typical low CPU synths simply do not. There are other goals than low CPU that are just as worthy to explore.
Sylenth may be great for some typical EDM stuff but never did a thing for me personally so I don't see it as the synth to end all synths, not at all.
So: thanks for all your hard work Dmitry and thanks a lot for Thorn!
Cheers,
Tom

Whaaa...
.... Tommy!
I did not expect to meet you here again, that's awesome!
I think, we're kind of on top of that situation, I believe, so...would be good to just hang in there until the upcoming 2.0.4 and resume giving feedback. I'm really happy for Dmitry, too, that there's so much support for him here. He well deserves it and I'm thrilled to run Thorn through its paces right now.
Hey, have you ever thought about giving the OSC a whirl, especially since it's "Thorn Month"!?
Anyway, great to see you here! It's been ages.

Exactly I feel the same. This is an awesome synth. Dmitry has worked hard to bust out some really quality releases...each one better than the last. Thorn had a few bumps but nothing that was show stopping.
Don't take it personally. His comments on other threads are similar. Very antagonizing personality this person has. Nothing new on forums however.Stefken wrote:You see anybody bragging? Somehow OSC isn't my thing, never was...
I hope the cats are well!

Anybody else having trouble with aftertouch assignments? I'm not getting anything! D:

Nope, works fine here. In fact, when one of my cats walks over my keyboard and right after my heart recovers, I can stroke their back and they'll play aftertouch, no problem at all!

Works fine in Ableton. Looks to be an FL Studio problem.

edit: thought I found same env bug in Harmonic Filter, now can't reproduce. weird.
Still think we need a few options on things as mentioned previously, but really just getting beautiful sounds out of this thing. Enjoying sound sculpting too much to make a melody or recreate other instruments for osc 105.
