Slightly off topic, but I've always understood that we only need basic graphics cards for DAW use. Has that changed in recent times, esp. with regard to Avenger?

good question, i think with better GUIs a better GPU is always better, i play also some games so i always get a mid class - higher class card

Serious question: does Avenger utilize NUMA on the CPU (is it designed to specifically take NUMA-nodes, i.e. separate processor packages with somewhat separated memory, into account)? I'm guessing an Intel "56 core" is likely a couple of new generation Xeon's slapped together on a dual-socket motherboard, and without NUMA support in the software, much of the performance that would be possible would be lost.

Still, I'm sure a 56-core anything would be pretty awesome, even at lower clock speeds.

NUMA has nothing to do with graphics. Check out the Wiki for more info:

It really only comes into play when you’re using a dual-socket CPU motherboard, or in the AMD Ryzen/Threadrippers, multiple cores soldered together in a similar manner. That Intel box linked to earlier likely utilizes a dual-socket motherboard to achieve its core count.

Regardless NUMA, powerful graphics helps quite a lot in Avenger’s case.
