I don't think anyone actually said it was racist per se or accused GS of racism, only that it was a term used in a racist manner in some places/times and maybe not the best term to use for this thread. That seems to be a difficult distinction for people here to grab... just waking up and let me quickly address this, there are a couple of people complaining in this thread and we did get a report from another member. With that said GS did add "Black Friday Awards for Best Deals of the Season" this morning and after the report. At this time I'm comfortable sticking with this compromise, but the point is valid to be honest and Ben or another mod may choose not to agree with me.
Like with my trying the to stop the use of a word deemed to a hate word by the U.S. and it's not overly PC if you look at the KvR rules. The rules state "generally offensive", not overtly offensive but generally and face it we allow that to get bent quite a bit around here as it's really open to interpretation. In a forum as large as this with people from so many different cultures trying to keep from offending people is going to be difficult and surely it's better to err on the side of caution. The original title had the potential to be more than generally offensive but again I think the addition GS made was a good move.
It's just about respecting each other and I think we see that in this case with the title change as no one was trying to be offensive.

No disagreement man. You know, whatever fun I thought this was going to be has been sucked out already. I did not mean to cause any offense, I thought that it was a great name for Black Friday deals award and it simply didn't occur to me that people would take offense.
