Yeah, but before Mangle, I had to spend hours and hours to make shit music. Now, I can do it in mere seconds!Distorted Horizon wrote:I'd really want to know what people feed to mangle.. (Just kidding, I do like The Mangle although the developer is perpetually MIA).

+1 for Fathom Synth. Got it for $11 at intro and it's grown a lot since then, with the developer taking input directly from KVR members including myself. Discount for KVR members on its KVR page here: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/fathom ... weed-audio
Getting AIR Xpand!2 for $1 is pretty good because it lets you upgrade to the AIR IEP3 Complete bundle. Looking at my GAS spreadsheet, I got it at Plugin Boutique for a little over $50 during a sale. That's $6/instrument, not counting the FX suite and presets. If you're starting out, it covers a lot of bases very quickly. And if you're already established, it could fill some gaps.
Got Zero-G Total Drums bundle for $22 by stacking coupons on top of a sale. Besides the 30k samples, the greatest value I got out of that is it also stopped me from wanting any more drum samples.
I have to oppose the idea that "insane" value includes DAWs that open up opportunity to have a "recording studio at home" because by that definition, every DAW is. I don't think any DAW is "insane" value, though Frankel's independent wealth does distort Reaper's market price to our benefit.
There is merit in valuing tools with a large user-created expansion base, especially when the manufacturer encourages it like Native Instruments' Reaktor User Library, Reaper's Stash, MuLabs' Google Drive library, and Blue Cat is working on a website area. But by that metric you're now including Kontakt for the sheer number of free instruments out there. And if that's the case, now you have to include Q-Clone and Altiverb. How do you value getting impulse responses from those places, devices, and people? And now you're including Omnisphere for the samples alone, and a whole bunch of other products with data that are connection- and cost-prohibitive for an average individual to acquire on their own, like Orchestral ensembles. These are "insane" value when you think about it, but the market cost that makes them possible is offputting to many.

I'd go with Logic and Synthmaster + One. I got the latter, together, for about €80 in August, I think. I am using a synth pad from S1 for a project I am working on. I'd wanted something like this, searched high and low amongst my various VIs, and couldn't find it. This patch was right there.
Logic, well, I mean, jeez. I am loving Alchemy, as well. I was going to buy it just a few days after Apple bought the company out. Got it as a free Logic update.
Another would be S-Gear Scuffham Amps. I think I paid around €59 when it first came out, and it has gotten free updates and improvements ever since, although that isn't happening anymore because Mike is working on the next version, I think. Anyways, SA is my go to Amp Sim.

I really don't understand the love for this synth. It's cpu heavy and nearly every sound out of it has this "samey" type sound. It's like no matter what you adjust you end up with with a slight variation of a saw wave, some noise and a filter. Even the presets highlight this when scanning through them.yellowmix wrote:+1 for Fathom Synth. Yes, I'm not sure why this hasn't been mentioned yet, The bundle at about $75ish is really good value.yellowmix wrote: Getting AIR Xpand!2 for $1 is pretty good because it lets you upgrade to the AIR IEP3 Complete bundle. Good ol Zero-G! Not exactly insane value to me though, just sayin.Got Zero-G Total Drums bundle for $22 by stacking coupons on top of a sale. Besides the 30k samples, the greatest value I got out of that is it also stopped me from wanting any more drum samples.
In no universe does Omnisphere qualify as "insane value", unless, of course, we are actually referring to the first denotation of insane. And now you're including Omnisphere for the samples alone
