Why Presonus Studio One 3 is being re-sold so cheap in KVR market?

I sold the full v3 suite for $150 as I recall, I needed the cash fast and didn't want to wait around forever for a buyer. I sold it for two reasons: it isn't very resource efficient, Reaper is, and Reaper has better video support. And when it came down to it I didn't use many of the exclusive features. Plus the workflow really wasn't any easier than Reaper, and it can't do as much at the end of the day. I didn't mind giving someone a deal either, I like deals when they are offered to me, asking only 20% off just didn't seem cool, someone can get that from a vendor.

If you have requests for Korg VST features or changes, they are listening at https://support.korguser.net/hc/en-us/requests/new

Yes, Reaper has become my main DAW as well, basically through a process of elimination. As every other DAW failed me in some way or another, Reaper would always save the day. So, in the end, I married the girl next door and couldn't be happier. I do stilll have Cubase but I am only using it to move over songs and ideas and once that is done, it'll be only Reaper.

I picked up v3 pro a while back for 170$ I believe but never really used it. It is a very nice and capable DAW. However, it is one if the last major DAWs with a tendency to crash really hard during the plugin scanning process (Cubase was the other one but they fixed that in version 9). If you ever run into that issue (and I understand many people never had that problem), it is a nightmare. It made it fairly unusable for me.

I think that the low second hand market price has to do with the way they gave away version 2 after the release of version 3. It was bundled up in all kinds of things. But that is only a guess.
That was my conclusion as well; very capable but nothing I could not get in things I already was using. Also, the MIDI in V1 was nothing special and the upgrades seemed expensive, so I sold it. I sold it cheaply because I got it cheap and I always sell for a percentage of what I paid for something, not based off the list price....because I never pay list. :hihi:

Yeah, the upgrade fees were also a consideration for me. I have spent $60 on Reaper in five and a half years, it was going to be something in the hundreds in the same time for S1, so that was definitely another consideration.

If I remember right I had bought it on a regular 50 % sale from presonus, so this (regular appearing sales) is the scale for me cause the regular prices today are kind of fantasy mostly. That kind of qualifies the "cheap" offers for secondhand I would suppose.

My only reason was the included mastering window in the pro version, but today with all the izotope and ik stuff for mastering I must admit I hardly use it. The strange thing is that I cannot even give you a concret reason why. Seems I need to change my main daw from time to time according to new functions :hihi: (lately the midi pattern generator on waveform, sigh.....). Only thing that stays is the second one for quick auditioning, there mulab is just unbeatable.

I don't think they've ever offered VST support for Artist and below. IIRC, there used to be a middle tier offering that they eliminated when they introduced their free Prime offering with v3.

What's worse for Artist users is that adding VST support costs $79 USD when the program itself is $99 and can regularly be found on sale for half that. Hell, PreSonus sold a direct Artist download for $5 one year during a Cinco de Mayo sale.

People read rave reviews or see those oh so fancy features it has and buy it blindly thinking it will be able to completely replace their old DAW, then feel disappointed when they realize that it's missing a lot of stuff. This is something I've seen mostly from Cubase users.

Unless you only do basic stuff with your DAW then Studio One is no replacement for Cubase, SPECIALLY if you work with MIDI and sample libraries.

I recently sold it for 160 euro. I was not using it although I liked it. I think it was 199 in Black Friday sale. Didn’t want to wait months to sell it.

I also have FL Studio, Live and Push 2 and bought waveform a few months ago after seeing the pattern generator. Three DAWs is enough for me.

I never saw Studio One Pro given away with anything...

Market prices are market prices. Studio One is not Cubase, and, with the sales they do, you can get it for low money. Also note that some will want to sell quickly, hence the prices will be low. The way i see it, it's not sold cheap because it is a bad program. It's anything but it. Maybe there's also some people who tried S1 on a Mac, and it didn't work reliably. To be fair, S1 seems to work flakey on some Mac's. It crashed like mad when i tried it on MacOS High Sierra, but, i figure they sorted that out by now.
