The automation via range tool is a long time request of mine - awesome to see that. Does clip gain allow for that too? Like Pro Tools? Cubase has really improved with 9 and 9.5.

I had the same crash, crash, crash, CRASH problem with every earlier version of Cubase I ever owned, which drove me to ultimately abandon it for other DAWs. But, I just bought Cubase 9 Pro a couple of weeks ago and it's running as smooth as can be for me - not a single crash yet.

You may qualify for a free upgrade to 9.5 depending on when you precisely upgraded to 9. I think around Oct 18th is the cutoff.. might want to check into that.

Sorry i can't help you because i am under OSX and i never had problem since i moved from S1V3 to Cubase Pro...If you're not alone , Steinberg will fix the problem quickly i think.

Wow, Cubase 9.5 is looking and acting more and more like Studio 1

I mean this as a compliment, I switched from Cubase 8 to Studio 1 as I much preferred the layout and drag and drop workflow....Hmmm

I hate to say this but - I love what they did in this update.

Massive compared to 8.5->9.0.

Metronome patterns, that also follow signatures, custom stuff(thank you, thank you...).
More insert slots
64-bit audio engine - one can hope also SRC is improved - will see.
Startup is really fast as well.

Only downside was that colors were all changed to others, maybe I can import my old stuff.
And will check if video engine performance is already improve a bit maybe. They assure that it is contstant improvement - which sounds good.

And also other things that seems they actually listen to feedback:
a) you can order content dvd in store - I stayed back on Halion purchase because of it being only download.
b) download manager - at least a start of that to easy select parts you want.

I do love this update but I think I found a bug.
Work spaces don't remember the media bay, loop browser and sound browser position and size.
Anyone with the same problem, or is it only for me?

Update complete. 64 bit engine working nicely. My projects open flawlessly. Nothing weird happened so far. The only thing I lost is my custom colours, so...

You have to be either trolling or your audio/MIDI work is so basic that you might as well be using freeware if nothing introduced since 8.5 has been useful to you. Like... seriously.

Crash on exit only affects a few setups, and it seems to depend on which plugins you had running. It never happened to me while using Cubase Pro 9.

Neither trolling, nor is my workflow basic, but I definitely need none of those features.
To me it would be a far greater value if Steinberg polished all the existing features (and made the program run smoothly) instead of continuously adding new stuff (which always adds a new set of bugs).
As it is, Cubase is, IMO, super bloated; I literally don't need 2 thirds of what's there. And I use it every day, it's my day job.
But don't get me wrong; I like Cubase, I've been using it since the 80s and the age of Atari, but with each new iteration it just feels heavier, instead of smoother.

But each to their own.

The problem with this statement is the question ... "which 2/3rds need to be removed". Every single person will have a slightly different list. If we concatenate the list, Cubase will have no features. One person's bloat is another person's key feature. Most mature software suffers from this "problem".

EDIT: I know you were not trolling or trashing Cubase. Same here, just an observation.

No one said anything needs to be removed; all I'm saying is that I'd like to see them make it a bit less buggy, that's all.
Ableton may be a toy to some, but those guys really go the extra mile to fix all the reported bugs and annoyances.
Can't say the same about Steinberg.
