I stopped using Cubase at 8.5 because they (Steinberg) had clearly adopted a new policy of simply not fixing existing bugs and forcing in new features year after year.
Seems like not much has changed?
To me Cubase is one of the most buggy DAW softwares out there - the only thing that makes it seem usable for new users is that the bugs are less bugs that make the software crash (altho there are some of those too) but rather bugs that are carried around by the many new features Steinberg keeps churning out without polishing them to be reliable.

To add some balance - Cubase hasn't crashed during use since, well, I can't remember. Years. And the "crash on exit" stopped when I stopped using Jamstix.Liero wrote:I stopped using Cubase at 8.5 because they (Steinberg) had clearly adopted a new policy of simply not fixing existing bugs and forcing in new features year after year.

Not denying others' issues, just saying.
Also, every update has a list of bug fixes - either Steinberg fixes bugs, or they're lying...

The free Cubase 9.5.10 update will be released in a few weeks with a ton of bugfixes. They're basically saving most fixes for that update, but many things did get fixed in 9.5. Don't assume that they're not fixing stuff just because it's not advertised on the what's new page.

they've just released a paid version update, if the update is already done then why not just include it as the main release.Romantique Tp wrote:The free Cubase 9.5.10 update will be released in a few weeks with a ton of bugfixes. I've played in this for 10 minutes now and already had the thing crash on me to the point I needed to use task manager to close it. (Sampler - set looping as alternate, move loop points together.. crash)

Testing takes time. The version you're using right now was finished back in mid-October. They have been working on the 9.5.10 update since before that.
Have you been able to make it crash again while doing that? If yes, consider making a thread on the Steinberg forum. One of the testers might be able to tell you if this is already known/will be fixed in 9.5.10. (I can't test if this happens here at the moment)wickfut wrote: I've played in this for 10 minutes now and already had the thing crash on me to the point I needed to use task manager to close it. One crash whilst opening a project straight after installation.
Closed, rebooted machine (which i really shoulve done prior to the update/launch).
All appears fine. Now to test a few 3rd party plugins for behaviour.
Incidentally, I run a lot of plugins in projects and have a lot installed. I cannot recall the last time I had a crash on exit. For me it's more and more stable as time goes on. But then I do tend to reinstall my rig periodically.
Early days. So cant really comment on 9.5 yet.
In general I believe SB do listen and are getting better. I have to hope as stuck with them since Atari in the early 90s. Cant be arsed to learn another DAW which will undoubtedly have its own unique flaws and user moans'n'groans.
We live, we learn, we make music, we die and software is not perfect. Simples.

The new file browser is great. It has search and favorites. But no drag and drop export for audio and midi! Importing audio, midi and presets is possible. VSTPresets make a new track with the instrument.

Very nice update/upgrade
but I probably will wait till the first bugs fix (the first minor update).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

well done steinberg , you managed to out do yourself with the shittest vst patch bank I've heard. I didn't think the Halion 6 Anime patches could be beaten for being completely useless arpegiated "boing" noises, but Flux has steped in and easily taken that crown .
congratulations!
congratulations!

Fortunately they remembered to add a lot of buttons, switches, knobs and dials so you can create your own super l33t noises.wickfut wrote:well done steinberg , you managed to out do yourself with the shittest vst patch bank I've heard.
