I am searching for acoustic snares that are suitable for making Hip Hop beats. For example the snares you hear in breakbeats, sampled from old soul records, like the Funky Drummer of James Brown. I like snares a bit dirty and raw, but this isn’t necessary.

I already got some acoustic snares suitable for Hip Hop beats. They can be found in my sample pack collection of Goldbaby, RawCutz and Geist.

Can you recommend any other sample packs or drum software? Thanks for your time :)

Check out the Drumdrops 60s Motown kit and Gretsch Round Badge 60s soul kit, where they copy the mic setups of those old records. The full Kontakt instrument for the Motown kit isn't out yet, but for hip-hop you probably want one of the smaller editions anyway. They also have vintage funk and disco kits, and the Vintage Folk Rock kit which I reviewed for Bedroom Producers Blog is also useful for getting old-school sounds.

This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Thanks DSmolken and Zexila (downloading your drum hits now :) )

This may be a little off the mark but here goes. Tal sampler is fantastic at this...

Load any quality sample from the factory library or quality sample of your choice. Then use the Sampler emulation portion to turn it into instant hip hop drums. Kicks and Snares turn out great.

If there is not a you tube video on this, by god I will make one.

Thanks Scrubbing Monkeys. I'll give it some thought.

Thanks sinkmusic. Already own some of your sample packs. Will also buy these two, as the Drumdrops packs.
