Are there any plans to add a six string to this? Or is there already one?

Also, are updates free or...?

How do you all think this compares with Trillian?

You'll have to wait for the MODO Guitars for the 6th string, or 7th string if they're modeling those too.

Not sure when it'll come out but I'm pretty sure it won't be this year unless we get a pleasant surprise!

you’re aware that both aren’t based on same type of synthesis, aren’t you ?

You may easily assume, being base on physical modeling, that modo bass certainly offers way more flexibility so to say, tweaking-wise but likely is slightly lacking realism, in regard to the sampled-based engine of Trillian

Also Trillian offers some synthesized and also pure acoustic bass in his sample library

The Pro and the Con of both types of synthesis

my two cents

Yes, I am aware. I own Trillian.

I was hoping for some detailed description of the differences in actual playing each from someone that knows both products, especially contrasting each's strength beyond marketing spiel stuff.

MODO Bass is the best virtual bass that I have ever heard. No sample library can compete with the inherent performance of physical modeled instruments when playing certain lines.

Many sample libraries are very playable, but they don't offer the tweakability or the dynamics and in-between notes that physical modeling has to offer.

That said, I own Trillian and MODO and both serve me well in many areas, but MODO is what I will be using if I am writing down a guitar, drums and bass track since it offers a lot of tweakability and expression.

Just picked (ha ha) this up in the sale. Sounds pretty much as good as everyone says it does, funnily enough. CPU modest too.

I was slightly surprised that there was no built-in integration with Amplitube, for owners of both. Does anyone know if this is a possible future thing? Makes sense to have it under one roof, surely?

Oh jeez, don't give them any ideas; their stuff is bloated enough, considering there are already 6 tabs worth of controls in MODO. Do we really need to add Amplitube's 11 additional tabs of controls to that?

Post

Ha - I was figuring that the Amp tab would optionally open Amplitube 4 in the window if you had it installed and checked. Maybe it would need too much GUI space.

Putting it through its paces now. Sounds great in the main but... is this buggy in Cubase? I was getting a number of serious glitches in Cubase 9, Windows 10. Selecting Pick missed alternate notes unless String was left to open. Also changing number of strings from 4 to 5 or drop D made the low E and those below go out of tune by a semitone. Then I restarted and... voila, all systems normal.

Is this is a thing with MODO?

MODO BASS is more realistic, but Trilian sounds better out of the box to me, and of course it covers more than just electric basses. If your mixes are busy then Trilian might still be the better choice.

I REALLY do wish they'd release the MODO Guitars!

I love the MODO Bass but it needs a match made in heaven and MODO Guitars would be that match...I feel so low B ;)

I would hope a Modo Guitars plugin would have a strummer built in. A really nifty custom arp too.

Will edit the thread title too, but... while we have not released another MODO instrument yet, we have released the MODO BASS 1.5 update which is free for existing users.

Two new basses, drop A tuning, 6-string option, and more.
