This is an awesome deal. I got it as part of the AIR bundle upgrade last year, and have used it extensively since. It's really good for basslines and the sequences/arpegiattor is powerful and easy to use. The fact that each of the two parts can run it's own instance makes it possible to do quite complex stuff real quick.
Re iLok issues, I had some trouble with the software, until I tried the tip of setting the PACE service to "Delayed startup" in the Service Manager - this has worked well since, but is obviously only a Windows fix...

Hybrid 3 is a really under rated synth. Proudly digital sound and unapologetic about it.....

I've had Hybrid for quite some time and love it. Perfect compliment to Dune 2, Sylenth 1 and Hive which are my workhorses.

I took advantage of the $1 patch banks. 512 patches total for $6.43 after virtual cash....$7.98 without. That's a no-brainer too......

I used to think that way too. I got several Air Music plugins free with the purchase of my Akai MPK261 but resisted installing them for a long time due to the iLok Manager. I wanted nothing to do with Pace iLok. Then one day out of sheer boredom I decided to install Hybrid, Loom, and Vacuum Pro. They are all great synths and made the installation of the iLok Manager well worth it and I have since added Air Music's XPand!2 and Transfuser.

I can't say that I've never had an issue with the iLok Manager but it's been a long time since I've had any issues with it and in fact during a recent update to one of the plugins I found myself impressed with how easy the Manager made the process.

Am I a fan of anything Pace / iLok ? Absolutely not as I'm sure Pace is owned by Satan himself but would I install the Manager again to get access to the Air Music plugins ? Absolutely yes.....

I bought Xpand!2 on PB when it was a no-brainer deal and then it was given away free shortly afterwards. So I'm not sure whether I want to "splash out" on this. Although I have just enough virtual cash to get it free.

Well, I was JUST looking at this deal this morning at producer spot and I was interested until it CLEARLY STATED in the system requirements posted at the producer spot page that software Ilok manager was required. I walked away at that point. 1$ is too much to pay for Ilok. I just wanted to mention that it was clearly stated to me that software Ilok manager was required.

1 pound, makes you wonder what Air stuff is really worth. But probably more than 1 pound per synth.
One thing I don't like about Air is that they don't seem to listen to customers, despite having a forum on KVR. They are the opposite of Tal and other perfectionist developers. They merrily settle for mediocre quality, it's all about the money. The Walmart of music software developers.

I used to use Hybrid 3 much more than today. Actually, I hardly ever use it anymore. I hate the fiddly graphical envelopes for instance and there are several other issues in my view.
Not sure whether the sound is more analog or proudly digital as someone said. Probably somewhere in between, like most such synths including Sylenth1. I think it lacks character.

Still, I think I would use it more often if it had a bigger, more hardware-like user interface.

No issue here with software Ilok (Xpand!2 and UVI Workstation).

I hesitated to buy Hybrid 3 but for this price, it's a no-brainer. I got Xpand!2 for free too.

No problems with iLok license manager here and no need for a hardware iLok USB stick. My Softube plugins use also Software iLok and no issues.

Please Note:

Minimum RAM 4GB (8GB or more recommended)
200MB free hard drive space required (Download and Installation)
Internet Access required (Download and Authorization)
No iLok key required

Any mention of iLok should be enough to warn you.
But i guess you wanted to moan about iLok more than you wanted to read the FULL DESCRIPTION
Ive never used a single AIR plugin, and that doesnt state im forced to use their crappy manager.

For a quid I really dont care, but why use the most unstable protection there is ? Yes I want to bitch about iLok, but also it should be clearer, no key needed BUT you must use the manager, which is just as shite.

As you can see, ppl LOVE iLok.

So far the iLok software has not caused any problems for me. Knock on wood...

I never have issues with iLok. Eventide, UVI's Falcon (and many other UVI products) run well for me, and several XILS-lab synths as well.

So what exactly is so bad about software i-lok ?

I have it installed for the Air package and others without any problems.

I find it baffling that so many people hate it. Why ?

The only real problem I have had is forgetting to write down my id and password.
